Yet another phrase I had never heard before MN . Similarly "loaded with cold". Why not simply "I have a cold"?

Get well soon.

KangarooKenny · 08/05/2022 11:59

It’s always been ‘full of a cold’ for me.

Yes the term full of cold has been around for years. Usually I'd use it when the cold is, at its peak.

I'm in Ireland and had honestly never heard the phrase before reading it here.

@Wishimaywishimight I'm Irish and hear it loads except it's "the cold" here.

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2022 13:06

Never heard loaded with cold though.

Wishimaywishimight · 08/05/2022 13:08

@JaneJeffer, I must need to get out more! In my 50s and it's always just been "I've got a cold" (sometimes a "terrible" or "bad" cold for embellishment!)

Very common saying round here in the North of England. I've always taken it to mean having a particularly snotty one. As in, full 🤢
