Hi all,

I was wondering if someone is able to help offer some advice here..

I have just received a message in my journal to say that I have to go to "Attend your commitments review in a jobcentre"

Did anyone ever receive a second one of these while on UC?

My daughters DLA backdated payment came through yesterday and I updated my journal last night and today with this change.

I have been anxiously waiting for her DLA to come through so that I can start the process of applying for Careers allowance (I haven't applied yet as I am waiting for the form pack in the post)

I am really stressed that something is wrong with the claim.

Really hope someone can help

Thanks x

Does carers allowance back date to the day you recieved DLA?

It can be backdated up to 12 weeks.

Good Morning all 😘

I hope you are all well and had a lovely weekend ?

I just wanted to quickly pop on as my daughter hasn't been very well the last couple of days so I haven't had the chance to reply.

I have a question about the Carers allowance ? - I see online it says the Carers allowance eligibility is..

"spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone"

Do they class the week as Monday- Friday ? or Monday- Sunday ?

Does my daughter attending School 9-3pm go against this at all ?

Even with my daughter attending School I still Care for her over 35 hours a week.

Does anyone else receive Carers allowance for a child who attends School ?

Sorry for all the questions guys x

The 35 hours minimum can come from any of the 24 hours in the day, and 7 days of the week.

You could clock up 48 hours over a weekend alone.

Thank you so much for your help and replying.

Everyone has been so nice on here x

It’s very common for parents to get Carer’s (allowance and or element) for caring for children who are in school. Don’t worry.

Thank you so much x

Wishing everyone a lovely evening ❤

Good Morning all,

I am having a bit of confusion on how to answer one of the questions on my UC journal.

It is asking me.. "When did I start caring for the person?"

Because I am her Mum I have always cared for her - So would I put her DOB down ?

Or would I put the date of her diagnosis ? ( the date /2021)

Or the date of the awarded DLA ? ( the date /2022)

It doesn't give you the option to elaborate on your answer and I'm petrified of being seen as answering it incorrectly as it comes up with a very authoritative declaration before you submit of sanctions..

I have tried asking my work coach aswel as ringing UC direct but they have been no help whatsoever.

I also sent off the Carers Allowance form.

Hoping someone can help advise x

The earliest date they could pay the carers element from is when the DLA was awarded from. If they’re asking for the info via your journal you can list each date if you feel happier doing that.

What you put in the journal doesn’t update your claim. Report a change or the To-do list can update and change your claim. The journal is more of a conversation.

Hi,
I am a single mum living with my one year old daughter, and due my second daughter on the 18/11/2023.
I am claiming universal credit, I have had a message today stating I need to attend a commits review on the 13th of November.
Why have I got this as my daughter has only just turned one and I thought you didn't need to work until the turn 3. Also will they cancel this if I make them aware I am due my baby 5 days later. Just a bit stressed and wondered if anyone has had similar thank you. Don't want to have my money stopped if I'm unable to attend due to having my baby. I'm also being booked in for a elective C section that same week as the appointment. So I doubt il be able to attend.
