It's Mother's Day this weekend and I massively struggle with it due to infertility. I'm desperate to be a mum, but it's never going to happen. So was generally feeling pretty shit and now we've had a death in the family and I won't be able to get home for the funeral. I found out on the commute into work. Cried my way through the journey, walked into the office burst into tears then took myself home to wfh. DH is out tonight and I need to keep myself distracted. Can anyone recommend the best possible comfort food or offer me a hand hold to stop me spending the evening a mess.

Handholding. I get it as had 3 years of infertility and loss. Flowers
Food- takeaway? Or pasta, a creamy, cheesy one.

Thank you. I don't fancy a takeout, I want to try and keep busy (to stop me drinking ALL the wine) maybe something like a dhal or some slow cooked ginger chicken. But a creamy pasta could work too, or maybe a soup.

Urgh that sounds like you're having a really tough time
I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad and going through such a difficult chapter in your life

For me comfort food is garlic egg fried rice and I use lots of aromat in it as well (a guilty pleasure)

Have the wine, fuck it x

Yes, eat it with a teaspoon, the sucking and licking is comforting.

You could also have a bath, make a fruit salad very slowly (all the peeling and chopping can be soothing).

Have an ice lolly (sucking again).

Get a hot water bottle/wheat pack.

Basically you need to baby yourself. FlowersFlowers

I made this

recipes.mercola.com/braised-ginger-chicken-recipe.aspx

With a mountain of sticky rice. Got up and went training with DH this morning, unfortunately had to go to the supermarket and was reminded of Mother's Day due to the wall of flowers at the entrance. Might just stay at home until Monday .... thanks everyone.
(And I drank ALL the wine)

Sending you so much love

I love and hate Mother's Day. It's been made up to generate income, basically, but it also makes people stop and think about their mother / get treasured for the fact they are a mother. It makes people grieve a lot, too.

Wine helps and so does exercise.

Thinking of you. I'm sorry you're suffering xx
