Cheap curtains - huge sliding doors!

We have just had massive sliding doors installed in our bedroom (5m wide by 3m length!!)
Pretty much run out of money for extras but desperately need some blackout curtains.

Understandably really struggling to buy ready made but cannot afford made to measure.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on where we could curtains that will at least do for the time being?

Make them yourself. It's not hard if you have a sewing machine. Do remember though that you need to allow twice the width of fabric to make it seem full with the gathers/pleats .

This may seem a bit odd but if you are not a good seamstress and need a cheap option we used the Ikea stick up blinds on ours. I attach a picture - when we wanted them up we used pegs to keep them "open" cheap and cheerful but got us through a build with some privacy 😂😂.

I can't visualise your curtain problem!

Are the sliding doors in your bedroom open to the garden/patio/balcony? Are you looking for privacy or heat retention?

IKEA sell super long lengths just buy a few pairs.

Buy ready made (again a few pairs) and add on a coloured panel at the bottom to make them long enough.

Also, it might be cheaper to get 2 (or more) pairs of ready made curtains and have 4 panels on the curtain rail as you will never find anything that wide off the peg.

Curtain maker here. Check ebay. They often have amazing 2nd hand bargains. I would advise against buying extra sets to make them wide enough. If you have a patterned fabric they probably won't match and it will look odd

We had these when we moved house AND THEY TOOK THE SHUTTERS WITH THEM...in the end we had them for about 6 months and they were great.

When ds was at Uni and needed black out curtains , on long Victorian bay windows, I bought the ready made linings from Dunelm - never got any fancy curtains as he was more worried about blocking out the light than the look.
You could try that and get the attractive curtains over the top when you can afford it.
