Ideas for new skills and new friends

I have found myself with a lot more time on my hands and now only work part time. I'm 48, kids are grown up and pretty much off hand.

For the first time in my life I have free time. I moved in with my ex husband when I was 16 and worked long hours for years and did everything at home.

I've discovered a love of fitness and running over the last few years. I have a dog who I love to bits and a full time working dp who I love nearly as much 😉

I am struggling emotionally a bit though. It seems I simply don't know what to do with myself! I need some inspiration for clubs and groups I can join that I don't need to be a pensioner to get into.

I want to get out and meet people so taking up gardening or jigsaws isn't what I'm looking for as I already work from home.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Volunteering? Have a look at do-it.org. Classes? Local adult Ed?

A running club? Or find a gym with classes and join a few. You are bound to meet people there.

Oh this resonates with me! I joined a swimming group and have been to a few craft evenings. I've also started a bit of volunteering too.

I'd love a tribe of people in similar positions.

I'd love to do a creative degree or masters in your position (part time).

Failing that, volunteering definitely - again something I'd love to do. Maybe mentoring young people or at the forestry commission? There's so many volunteering opportunities!
