Recommened Daily Intake of Vitamin B12

Can someone brighter than me please help me out.

The RDA of vitamin B12 for someone over 19 is 2.4 mcg daily. This morning I bought some B12 which was rated at 250ug per tablet and the pack said to take one a day and not exceed the dose. Is 250ug more or less the same as 2.4mcg? Or do I need to take more than one tablet a day to get to 2.4 mcg? Sorry, numbers have never been my strong point. When I put it into a calculator it came out as 250ug = 0.4 mcg. I'm confused!!

Suffering with fatigue following Covid and trying to get my energy levels back to normal.

TIA

Ug and mcg are both micrograms, are you mixing up with mg which is milligrams? I would imagine that the vitamin would give you the full daily dose, they usually do for B vitamins.

Hi, I've just seen this as I'm looking into my vitamin intake as have a lot of health problems.

The B12 I have in my cupboard are 1000ug. And it recommends one a day which seems a lot more than yours. It's the same with Holland and Barrett and the Solgar ones I have.

The ones that have the best rate of absorption (based on info a nutritionist told me) are the methylcobalamin ones. Which is what the Solgar ones are called.

However, I have never had anything lift my B12 better than injections, which I got done privately.

My levels were 200 pg/ml, jumped up to 900 after a course of 4 injections, then because I haven't had them again in the last 8 months it's back down to 200. Below 200 is considered low.

I must book another course. You're supposed to have them monthly after the initial 3 once a week but I had a major surgery and then forgot all about it.

For info I have Chronic Fatigue.
