37w pregnant Blockage to feeding tube.. getting no help!

Hi

I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my first.
I have had hg from week 5, SPD from week 20, hospital on drip and taking injections from week 33 and have had my midwife changed 3 times!!

They said they want to scan me every week as the feeding tube to my baby is higher than it should be so they want to scan to keep an eye on it and make sure she is growing. I haven't received an app for this week so I called Friday to ask woman on desk said they got to wait for midwife to get back to them and will call that afternoon, I heard nothing! Yesterday I called about it and received the same answer and she promised me she would call by the evening again another lie! So I called this morning and the woman on antenatal desk said she can't do anything and will put me through to midwife I was on hold for so long then got hung up on. I called back and the same woman answered being snotty " I told I can't do anything! I'll put you through to midwives!" As I was replying she cut me off!!
This whole pregnancy I have had trouble getting hold of any midwife yet I was told I could call whenever about anything. I keep calling the midwife unit and not one person will answer! I'm so upset and angry and don't know what to do 😭😭😭😭😭😭 any advice please I'm worried about feeding tube to my baby

I'm not really sure what you mean by feeding tube? All you can do is keep phoning and try get an appointment.

Sorry the cord that feeds the baby.. they kept calling it a feeding tube to me. Thanks for your reply

Are you under a Consultant? If so, ring the hospital switchboard and ask to speak to his secretary, they're usually the best people to pull strings IME!
(also no idea what you mean by feeding tube!)

We have a maternity assessment unit, like a drop in for expectant mothers. Does your hospital have one of those?

It's where you go of you think your babies movements have changed or have any concerns at all.

If you don't, I'd try the consultants secretary and failing that, your GP.

FirstTimeMum6666 · 04/05/2022 10:53

Yes I have a consultant thank you I will try that. I meant cord that feeds the baby sorry its how sonoographers kept describing it to me

Do you mean the umbilical cord?

DropYourSword · 04/05/2022 11:00

I think you should maybe attend either the surgery or the hospital (wherever you receive your care) face to face so they can make a plan with you.
Obviously if you need weekly scans there is something that's an issue, but I feel that it's a crying shame they haven't explained it to you well enough because a "high feeding tube" (or umbilical cord) doesn't make any sense.

FrasierCraneDay · 04/05/2022 11:08

You have a blockage in the umbilical cord?

PinkPrawns2 · 04/05/2022 11:13

I think what OP means is that the PI in the cord is high, it means the blood flow isn't optimal for baby.

Where I am the scans are done at the antenatal assessment unit, and are arranged directly with them and not the community midwife. You should be having consultant appointments too to monitor this and baby's growth. Have you tried phoning the equivalent unit in your hospital OP?

Did you get sorted @FirstTimeMum6666 ?

almondbran · 04/05/2022 18:57

What do they mean by the feeding tube being too high? Hope you got sorted

Wavygravy1 · 04/05/2022 19:05

This is bizarre 🤔
