Anybody use bike club?

Seems a great idea for my ever growing weed of a child! He needs a new bike (only had one last October!) and this seems the best way.

it says they accept wear and tear in return as they want the bikes used. My son loves his bike and does mikes and miles a week. My only concern is charges only return if it’s really scratched up etc

Any reviews?

Aren't there rules about talking about bike club?. 😂

We have a bike from bike club and been very happy with it but not tried to change it so my review is possibly not helpful.

It has changed my daughter from an increasingly unwilling cyclist to a happier one as the bike is so light.

We used it because we had just bought her a new bike for Christmas (and made a bad choice as it was gorgeous but so heavy and she eas overwhelmed by too many gears) & couldn't justify expense of buying a new and really pricy one outright only for her to grow out of it.

Wr have a Forme one from bike club and it is half the weight of her old one and whinging on hills has reduced massively.

It says they accept some scratches as fair wear and tear and in my experience, the good quality bikes they use are quite robust and designed to be ridden, plus a lot of the parts that get damaged they probably replace between hires (chain, cables, brake pads etc) anyway.

I heard an advert for Bike Club on the Scummy Mummies podcast, it sounds like a great idea and gets over the problem of people not wanting or being able to buy a decent bike for their growing DC, but cheaper bikes being absolutely awful to ride and maintain.

We have used them for a few years now and it's been great. Would 100% recommend!

Thanks all. I went for it and ordered one. Paid the extra £2 a month for accidental damage, for my piece of mind!

He currently has a Strider 14x with pedals but his little legs go round so fast, I’ve ordered him a 16in with a much larger crank. He’s going to love it!

In my opinion it’s pretty expensive. If you can afford a 2nd hand Islabike/Frog bike it’s probably worth doing that as they seem to keep their value and it will have paid for itself in 12 months.
It’s worth noting they recently reduced their prices so anyone who has been subscribing for more than a few months should contact them to see if they can pay the newer rate. We are stuck on a 3 year contract of £19.99 per month for a used bike where as now you can get a new one for £14.99 per month.

Charlito · 09/05/2022 14:44

Are you paying the older rate or the newer rate? They reduced their prices a few months ago but my contract is still the more expensive price.

No idea but I’ve received a 16in frog bike today for £8.49 per month. Sounds pretty cheap to me!
