Where can a dad and his 15YO daughter go for May half term?

Somewhere in the UK where they can stay somewhere nice with a pool, and activities like cycling, canoeing, paddle boarding, with an instructor?

Sounds like the Isle of Arran to me!

Dorset? Can do an instructor lead canoe trip around Old Harry’s rocks. Sandbanks hotel might work. Have a watersports centre there

HigherNature · 03/05/2022 16:12

I like the idea of Dorset with the watersports centre, but it's really expensive. A week's accommodation would be nearly £2K, and that wouldn't include meals or any of the sports.
Scotland will be too far.

Northumberland? Fab beaches and loads of watersports on Kielder water.

Cornwall?

HigherNature · 03/05/2022 16:23

All those locations sound amazing and could work. But I am looking for something specific that includes accommodation and the activities/sports, rather than having to free style the whole thing? Does that make sense what I'm saying? Or maybe it doesn't exist...

Surf Snowdownia?
I know they do accommodation and water sports at the same place

Pgl holidays

Could try looking at Minehead, or North Devon coast. I know there are some activity centres that do school trips, but don't know about holiday makers. Or maybe Newquay area (lots of surfers down there), so may be other activities.
Do you have a budget? Could they stay in a caravan park to make accommodation cheaper? Or think there is a watersports centre in Gloucestershire somewhere. Might be cotswold water park.

Topbird29 · 03/05/2022 16:34

cotswoldwaterparkretreats.co.uk/things-to-do/ - worth a look - looks like they have lodges on site. Not sure about availability this close to may half term though.

Lake District - Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre organises all the activities and supplies all the kit, you'll just need to arrange accommodation on top.

This one sounds really good, thanks. Any idea of reasonable accommodation?

Rutland Water, perhaps staying at the Rutland Hall Hotel as it has a pool. There's cheaper accommodation if the pool is negotiable. The Aquapark (inflatable obstacles in the reservoir) opens some time in May.

Watersports on Rutland Water, also bike hire to cycle round it (mainly off-road), also walking trails, outdoor gym.

Not quite what you’re asking for but The Manor at Oakhampton has a lot to offer. Activity hotel, with crafts, sports etc etc.
