ds age 4 is average height but his waist is tiny. Where can I find trousers/jeans with tiny waists? All his current ones are so short!

I used to get slim leg slim fit ones from m&s for school. Jeans I used tesco. Everything had to have buttons I'm so I could bring them I'm more. DS never wore joggers really because they always fell down!

YellowFlowersGreenStems · 30/04/2022 19:39

*in. Stupid auto correct!

axolotlfloof · 30/04/2022 19:40

You need adjustable waists.
My 13 y o still needs them as all the elasticated waists are too big.

Thanks, I'll try m and s. And the adjustable waist is a good shout.

Tesco I have liked before but he's now too tall for the 18-24 months ones and we had an embarrassing "trousers fall down in the park" situation with the age 2-3.

Just hoping it gets hot soon so can progress to shorts ...

Shorts are the only non-adjustable waist things we have...usually very short in the age below his actual age! You can get shorts with the adjustable buttons too though. I spent a lot of time looking for items with buttons...

Ds is 10 now and still super slim

Primark skinny fit or Next slim fit (the slim/skinny might be the other way round) are my go to.

oishutup · 30/04/2022 19:56

My son had a very slim waist and I used to buy trousers, jeans & joggers from Next as they have adjustable waists.

TrashPanda · 30/04/2022 19:58

I found h&m good for my skinny one

Furbaby65 · 30/04/2022 20:22

Primark are cut small, next skinny fit. La redoute I found a good option as the continental sizes are smaller. And anything from China fitted my skinny boy. I'm sure we do vanity sizes for kids in this country.

yikesanotherbooboo · 30/04/2022 20:33

Adjustable waist or fully elastic.I used to try the trousers/shorts onto DS and send him off to run around for a few minutes to test them.
He is grown up now but in those days it was M&S for school and GAP for shorts.Ordinary trousers never worked.

INeedNewShoes · 30/04/2022 20:37

Many French brands are good for skinny children.

I buy DD’s trousers from Vertbaudet. Many of them have adjusters but they don’t need pulling in half so much as on British brands clothing.

Petit bateau also good but pricey. I pick up stuff on eBay more affordably.

DanceToTheMusicInMyHead · 30/04/2022 20:47

M&S adjustable waist. I also find I can size down as they have generous length, and school trousers have a seam you can let down to extend the length and retain waist size. My 5 year old needs age 5-6 length and age 2-3 waist- it is near impossible!!

Thinkbiglittleone · 30/04/2022 20:59

Our DS is very petite, he can't wear joggers without me taking in the waist as I can't find school PE joggers with adjustable waist, or jogging material shorts with adjustable waist.

Mayoral clothes have adjustable waists and are great for petite kids.
As others have said M&S are a good fit, next were a good fit, but everything navy or black looked all washed out and old already, so we avoid them now.

yoshiblue · 30/04/2022 21:00

For school trousers - Sainsburys Tu - adjustable waist and buy longer length then you can go even smaller in the waist.

Generally I have found Next good for shorts, joggers, chinos (again adjustable)

Never Asda, big waists and anything two piece e.g. pyjamas doesn't fit!

Topbird29 · 30/04/2022 21:08

Have a slim waisted boy here. M & s slim fit school trousers- have adjustable waist. And slim fit joggers from next. Otherwise next, h & m and tu slim fit have been good. Is 10 now and still skinny!

FleeceNavidadfromtheSheep · 30/04/2022 21:21

Buy the LONG length, in a smaller size to get the waist more in proportion.

Thank you all, some great ideas here!

I have a very skinny boy - next do fab skinny fit school trousers with a 2” smaller waist for their age. I also buy their slim fit joggers and skinny jeans. Primark have some smaller waisted ones too but not all are small.

JL, TU and M&S seem pretty big in our experience. Good luck!

OhPleaseJustLast · 30/04/2022 21:38

Verbaudet for joggers and jeans. Next slim fit school trousers.

One thing I did just discover, that has widened the options, is a hack for drawstrings that means you can tighten them and loosen them without tying and re-tying a bow. Looks like there’s plenty of videos on YouTube although I found it on Instagram. Just search drawstring hack on YouTube.

Thanks!

Oh I was also going to add Decathlon is good for sportswear as he gets older - You'll actually find he is 'to size' for swimwear, tennis clothes etc, as it's French (slim kids). Great for a first karate kit too! haha!

Londoner256 · 01/05/2022 09:28

Try buying from the girls section - they are generally smaller in the waist
