Find me a herbal tea I will like!

I drink too much tea. Want to cut down on the caffeine but the idea of herbal teas aren't appealing. Help me to find one I'll like please! I hate mint in drinks but other than that I don't really know where to start. I drank decaf tea when breastfeeding but herbal tea would be healthier wouldn't it?

T2 do a really broad range of teas. I recommend you go into a store if you are close to one as they let you taste them before you buy which is useful.

Oh yes I like their teas too, especially their ‘sleep tight’ blend

GettingStuffed · 30/04/2022 11:16

I prefer fruity or ginger teas, hate mint and rooibos tastes like tobacco to me

Vinorosso74 · 30/04/2022 11:16

I find a lot of the fruity ones taste a bit like hot squash and don't like them but it's all down to personal taste.
I like lemon and ginger tea and most of those are good. I like the Pukka Joy and bedtime ones, they have a good variety. Teapigs are really good but more pricey, I like the rhubarb and ginger and lemon and ginger best. On their website you can buy packs with 2 in so you could try a variety.

I love pukka blackcurrant beauty and Vanilla Chai.

Matildahoney · 30/04/2022 11:19

Why not just drink normal decaf tea?
The mistake most people make with herbal tea is using boiling water, you need to boil & let it cool a bit, 1/2 TSP of honey or sweetener really brings out the flavour.
Depends what you like, twinings do a lovely cherry & cinnamon one. When I worked as a barista lemon & ginger was one of the most popular

N0tfinished · 30/04/2022 11:58

Rooibos all the way. I like the Clipper brand best.

SleepWoof · 30/04/2022 12:34

I love hibiscus tea - I think it tastes like unsweetened ribena (fruity not floral) and it's supposed to be good for blood pressure. My favourite one is from BioProgramme (via Amazon) but the Hambleden brand is pretty good too.

CutesyUserName · 30/04/2022 12:39

Twinings camomile and honey is lovely.

muppamup · 30/04/2022 12:43

watch out for some of the berry ones because they can be quite acidic for your teeth if you're drinking them through the day.

green tea is good, but get japanese good quality brand. Chinese can have high amounts of lead in it, so unless you know it's not from China (Japanese) you put yourself at risk.

the key with green tea is not to leave the bag in too long or it tastes bitter. So a minute or two in the water max. If it tastes bitter you've left it in too long.

There's a great "roasted rice" green tea from japan you can get in Waitrose. has a lovely flavour a bit like popcorn.

white tea is also nice (japanese version). And I also like Matcha powder.

Mxflamingnoravera · 30/04/2022 12:47

I adore licorice tea, it has a natural sweetness, but take care, it can affect blood pressure.

SicklyYellow · 30/04/2022 12:48

The only one I like is peppermint.
I drink it every day.

Oh raspberry leaf tea might not be good if still breastfeeding!

No longer breastfeeding, thanks for flagging though! Smile

Nettle, decaf green tea with lemon or decaf red tea with vanilla. Most taste like hot fruit juice to me - yucky.

I think half of my problem is I can't decide if I'd like the fruity ones or feel the same as you! I do like squash but having it hot reminds me of being ill Grin

Ginger/ginger and lemon is nice, not too sweet
Lemon verbena if you can find it
Jasmine

I think lemon/ginger might be a good shout - not too sweet. I'll give it a go, thank you!

The decaf I was drinking was a bit meh and now the idea of it brings back memories of sleep deprivation, lockdown 1 and endless walks Grin

Redbush
Camomile
Matcha
Peppermint and licquorice
Turmeric
Basically anything that isn't fruity. The fruit ones put my teeth on edge!

FusionChefGeoff · 30/04/2022 15:22

Another vote for yogi teas - zillions of flavours. So far my favourites are Peaceful Moment, Wonens Tea and the senses bedtime ones.

thecurtainsofdestiny · 30/04/2022 15:32

Agree with Yogi teas being good. I like the chocolate one but there are lots of other lovely ones.

Ah that's fair enough! I actually use aldi decaf and it's pretty decent!
No one needs lockdown reminders!

These are some of the nicest I've found, you can filter selection by type of tea

Lemon and ginger is good but can really vary between brands. I currently have the Morrison's own sitting in my cupboard.
Yogi teas and Pukka teas rely too heavily on Aniseed/Liquorice flavours for my own preference.
Have recently picked up some CBD tea in savers which I am loving a lot
Marks and Spencers used to do a really lovely camomile and lavender one which I couldn't get enough of, but don't think they have done that one for a while.
I had a Tetley Cranberry and Pomegranate one recently at an afternoon tea in a pub but can't find it in any shops, quelle frustrating!!

XenoBitch · 01/05/2022 01:09

I like Twinings Superblend Glow. It is strawberry, cucumber, aloe vera and green tea. Is delicate and easy to drink.

If avoiding caffeine, PG Tips decaf tea is pretty decent.

MoiraQueen · 01/05/2022 01:18

Not a fan of fruit teas apart from the Twinings cinnamon and cherry mentioned above. I drink a lot of herbal teas, mainly Pukka. I like their liquorice, 3 ginger, joy, peace, Berry nighttime and their ordinary nighttime (which is an acquired taste! But works). Twinings Detox and Sleep are good. Any lemon and ginger (add extra lemon and ginger, sometimes a bit of honey).
DD drinks lemon tea granules, Lidl mainly they are lovely, but contain sugar.
Mint tea made with fresh mint is nice too.

toastofthetown · 01/05/2022 01:23

I like mint tea, but no other herbal teas. I’ve tried so many, and they often smell great, but taste like murky water. Or they have a strong liquorice flavour which isn’t apparent in the name of the tea. If it’s hot drink alternative, I’d rather just have hot water. Or just have less of the tea I actually like. I enjoy various green teas, but they still have caffeine in.

Kezzie200 · 01/05/2022 02:01

The cheap ones are like a weak unsweetened ribena, they have their place.

My faves tho are yogiteas and I pick those blends that don't have liquorice (my preference, as I don't like it) but that brand of tea always tastes natural to me. We get these from a health store local to my Mum.
