Would putting shutters up in 2/6ths of theses windows look odd?

Ughs.

We've got a Delivery driver averse dog.

He sits on the stairs most of the time and watches out the window.

He reacts as though the Spartans are approaching even if there are heading towards a neighbouring or opposite house.

Someone suggested blocking his view and I think this is the way forward.

His reaction to Drivers who actually come to the house and ring the bell I'll deal with in a different manner.

Is is going to look shit to have just the top and bottom left windows shuttered? See photo. I don't think it'd be too bad but I do think window dressings should be an all of nothing approach?

AIBU?

I am not sure if this would help. Our dog goes mad too, particularly anyone wearing a high vis jacket, bit it is the noise which alerts her first.

No pic?

Apologies! This update Confused

And terrible photo angle.

It's the bottom left window and the one above it.

what about drawing the curtain?

crispsandwichlife · 29/04/2022 19:48

You can get film to go on the windows super cheap and looks nice inside & outside
Amazon have rolls starting from £8

BertieBotts · 29/04/2022 19:56

I don't think you'll notice from the street. Maybe a curtain if he wouldn't nose it out of the way?

MadMadMadamMim · 29/04/2022 20:03

Your house is gorgeous! (Misses point). I think shutters would be fine.

CheshireCats · 29/04/2022 22:06

What a beautiful house. I do think only putting shutters there would look a bit odd...

Shamoo · 29/04/2022 22:14

We have the film that goes across the window for our furious dog and it has definitely helped. However she has just now found a different spot to watch from. Crafty sod!

ChateauMargaux · 29/04/2022 22:14

Your house is BEAUTIFUL!!!

What do you mean by 'shuttered' - external shutters mounted on either side of the window like are common on French and Swiss houses? or internal victorian style shutters that fold into a space at the side of the windows and these would be shut all of the time - looking like the maid didn't make it round to those rooms yet or that great aunt mabel is on her last legs in there... or plantation shutters which would not really be in keeping with the style or age, I don't think.. and in fact would be better suited to the large window on the right.

The only solution is that you move out, with the dog, house swap with me.. where the dog cannot see other houses from the windows of our house.

I'm not sure whether it's sight or sound so I'm going with what I can deal with though I fear you could be right x

There's a piece of furniture in front of the window so he wouldn't be able to nose it out. He lies in the half landing and watches out.

Thanks all for comments, I've decided to go with shutters on just the Look out window.

I've got 3 companies coming around soon.

Hope they don't do the hard sell 🙄

I have luxaflex Duette blinds which are great for our tilt and turn windows which might look good on yours too and aren’t see through but let light through when down.
