Any Dentists here?

I have had toothache now since Easter after eating a cheese sandwich on soft white bread 😢but I can't work out which tooth it is coming from, all I know is it's a top molar. I can eat without any problems on the side that it hurts but if I have anything that is even slightly sweet, I have a dull ache. I hate sweet food in general, so I'm not sitting here eating sweets and chocolate etc, but some food is naturally sweet. I know have to go to the dentist, but how on earth do I tell them which tooth it is if I don't know! It could even be more than one.
I also have fear of dentists, which I managed to overcome three years ago with a lovely dentist, after years of neglect, but I've now moved house and have to find a new dentist. I feel sick in case they say I need multiple root canals or worse implants. I have had one painless root canal but not on a molar, it makes me shudder.

Not a dentist but have you tried a deep flossing? It might just be something stuck under the gumline and infected.

Sensitivity with sweet suggests the is some kind of hole somewhere. This should be picked up on a routine X-ray. Together with the mirror, the dentist should be able to find the culprit!

Just go, they'll sort it - it will unlikely get better so bite the cheese sandwich and get an emergency appointment
If you've not been a while, dentists are a much different species these days

By the sounds of it you'll need a filling. And don't worry about not which tooth is it, that is literally their job. They will given you an examination and be able to tell.
I have been a few times and said the pain is on this side, unsure if top of bottom... and it's always been fine.

Most of the time we can work out where it is coming from after examination and a range of tests. Not always but go - it will only get worse!
