Got a pay rise

Don't earn much in the first place so not talking megabucks (> 30k public sector job) but have recently asked for a pay review as part of my annual appraisal as it's been obvious from starting the role (18 months ago) that I am performing at a much higher level and could get other jobs that pay more.

Have been shitting self all week.

Just had the call to say I've been given an 18.5% salary increase.

Am pure buzzing 🤣

🍷 tonight for sure!

Congratulations!!! That's a fab increase!!!

Danikm151 · 28/04/2022 13:50

props to you!
I'd be buzzing at even 5%, it proves they appreciate your worth.

Wow. Congratulations! I got excited with 3 🤣

Thanks all.

I'm so happy. I didn't work for almost 7 years when my DC were little and had no career before then anyway so going back to work was so daunting for me. I had zero confidence. I started 3 years ago in an entry level position and then got promoted twice before going for this role.

As a now single parent with a mortgage this is proof to myself that I can make it on my own and provide for myself and my DC.

Am a bit tearful tbh 😢

Am preserving my self-esteem by purposefully NOT reading the current salary thread where everyone seems to be on minimum of £50k 🙈🙉🙊

Wow. That’s fantastic.

Asked for a pay review months ago and nothing despite initial positive noises.

PandemelonFelon · 28/04/2022 16:28

That's awesome, well done you!

FatuousJeffrey · 28/04/2022 19:09

That's really shit Razzle 😔 Could you do what I did and line up an interview for another, higher paid, job and use that as leverage?

Thanks Pande 💐

Congratulations!! Well done for asking

Gaspingandleaping · 28/04/2022 19:17

Well done! I was worried from the thread title it was going to mean you were worse off.

What lovely news!

MrsDThomas · 28/04/2022 19:20

How much?! Bloodhell! Lucky you.

I got 1.5% and that was 3 years in the making,

Fit50 · 28/04/2022 19:57

Congratulations. It’s all down to your abilities. The managers are validating what you already knew to be true that you are excellent at doing your job 😊

Squiff70 · 28/04/2022 20:00

Nice work, congratulations! That's a fab result!

TheProvincialLady · 28/04/2022 20:00

Congratulations and a huge well done for asking!

LollyLol · 28/04/2022 20:03

Wow congrats! That's a huge increase. The advantage you have over the people on over 50k is, you don't have to hand over most of your pay rise in income tax 🤑

teacherorpreacher · 28/04/2022 20:08

Op that is lovely news for you I am sure your boss holds you in high esteem you should be really proud of yourself. Hope you spend some of your next paycheck on something nice for yourself😀x

Bonbon21 · 28/04/2022 20:09

....you are obviously SO worth it!!!
Congratulations!😊

EinsteinaGogo · 28/04/2022 20:11

Absolutely brilliant.

Bloody well done, OP. I wish more (women) would take that leap that you did and ask to be paid what they're worth.

I know it's not easy or always successful but we shouldn't stop trying.

WELL DONE AND 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

CastleCrasher · 29/01/2023 18:30

Well done, that's a great raise, especially in public sector. 🍾for you!
