How do you wash an Oodie weighted blanket??

I purchased an Oodie weighted blanket for DS. When I bought it the website said it could be machine washed. I looked the website recently to buy DH one and now it says it can't be machine washed!

Do I put it on a gentle wash? Think I will have to hang it over a door to dry. Any tips please??

I had it dry cleaned and it cost a FORTUNE! Next time will just shove it in the machine and hope for the best

I have a weighted blanket but not an oodie.
I wouldn’t put it in the washing machine as I think the weight may damage the machine on a spin.
I would hand wash it in the bath on a good drying day.

I put mine on a handwash and then dried flat on the trampoline outside. It was fine.

We have a weighted blanket (not an Oodie tho - think the brand is Koala) but the cover is removable so I wash that (it is still quite heavy but washes and dries on the line OK). Not sure if I would wash the actual blanket tho - would be worried about the weight in the washing machine tbh. How heavy is it?

If it is worn over clothes or like a duvet you could consider not washing it. Put it outside for 24-48 hours to get direct sunlight and some breeze/wind and it will be fine. Sunlight kills bacteria and the breeze will light and remove detritus and odours.

Thanks for the replies!

I only have a wet room so think I might have to chance the wool / delicate cycle on the washing machine. The blanket weighs 6kg which is the weight limited in the machine so a bit worried it will weigh the same as a baby hippo when wet.

Sounds like dry cleaning is out as can't afford the £££ but we do have a trampoline which is a genius suggestion!

If the gits said it was hand wash only at the time I couldn't have bought it
