What does your ideal holiday home look like?

Just read a thread about someone's brother being worth millions. That got me thinking: if I had that kind of money, I would buy myself a holiday home here in the UK, and one somewhere with hot summers in Europe. In the former I'd have lots of cosy rooms, where you can relax and spend afternoons reading or chatting with your friends (there'd be enough space to have friends join us), in the latter, I'd have a swimming pool and a large outdoor BBQ/eating area where you can sit until late and chat and play games with your friends. Somewhere a little remote but still ten minutes from a supermarket/town. What does your ideal holiday home look like?

Middle of nowhere, accessible only by 4x4, acres of land farmed using environmentally friendly methods, woodland.
Actually, it wouldn’t be a holiday home, I’d probably end up there all the time.

Good point. I wonder how many people with holiday homes end up living there full time once they retire.

Some remote place half way up a mountain with incredible views and plenty of wildlife to watch. There will be horses for trail rides as well as paths to hike all around me.

I was daydreaming about this earlier...I would have a cosy old cottage in Devon or Cornwall. It would be in a village with a great pub and a little general store, and maybe a cafe. Walking distance to a dog friendly beach that only the locals know about and short drive to a decent market town for supplies. I actually wouldn't want it that big otherwise we'd have too many guests - 4 bed would be enough for immediate family! I think I'd actually live in this one for most of the year.

My second holiday home that I'd go to would be in the canaries where it's likely to have some decent weather in our winter - a villa with a pool (I'd have a gardener and a pool cleaner obvs), walking distance to a few beach bars would do me fine. I'd deffo go January-March. Maybe with some apartments close by that friends/family could stay in!

oh yes - lots of wildlife around and no nearby neighbours!
