Shoes for Plantar - not Vionic or Fitflop

I am after a new pair of shoes. I can't find anything I like enough or at a good enough price.

I don't like sketchers.

I need something like a good ballet type show that I can wear with cropped trousers or wide leg trousers.

I have Vionic trainers but need something cooler for the summer but not too sandal like as I drive a lot during the day.

Have u considered insoles for PF? I wear them for collapsed arches and they go into any shoes, well, except sandals I guess.

The thing that made the biggest difference to mine was starting HRT - if I’d known it was a peri-menopausal symptom that would virtually disappear, I’d have started it way sooner, was in agony last summer and could only wear Fitflops. So much better now!

If you have plantar, please don't wear ballet pumps. You need structured shoes.

I have insoles in nearly all my shoes. Unfortunately, Superdrug don't do the ones I used to buy any more.

I'll try and find the type I mean. You can also wear elastic instep reinforcers.

Hotter, Strive, Clarks Un or Tri range are all good for PF.

Or you could get insoles which then be used in any shoe.

Well that's interesting. I have started with some plantar pain in the last month and I was already wondering if my other chronic pains may be related.

If only I could actually get to talk to a doctor!

Feenie · 26/04/2022 20:38

That is indeed half the battle, unfortunately. Then tracking it down in chemists now there are shortages 🙄

I will only wear ballet pumps if they offer the support I need.

Vionic do some but they aren't nice enough to spend the £85. I also find my shoes don't last more than 8-10 months as I am always on my feet.

OP. Like several posters, I found relief from PF when I got customised insoles from a podiatrist and do daily 'bottom stair' stretching exercise, both are really helpful.

carefullycourageous · 26/04/2022 21:31

Get the right insoles, then you have far more options. Insoles changed my life!

SophieJo · 26/04/2022 21:33

I have had PF and wear ballerina pumps but always with orthodontic inserts. Tried these recently and it’s like walking on air. Can’t wear fit flops as they hurt.

Thank you, I do have some insoles for many of my shoes, but I find them too chunky for ballet pumps.

I might look around at some more and see if I can get them to work.

Which ones are these please?
