Nmw when it rises each year is our pay supposed too rise?

So for instance if I was on £7.51 an hour then the following year it went to £8 something but I'm still on 7 something is that right?
And if my pay should have increased with this rise over the year's how come it didn't?

Are you term time only? If so you need to divide the yearly rate by the amount of weeks you are paid for ( it wont be 52) maybe 39 or 44 then divide by the hours per week. This will give your gross hourly rate

Pulling numbers out of my ass, but:
If NMW is raised to £8/hr, and you are on £8/hr or more, then your pay won't go up. (unless your employer independently decides to raise it)
If you are on less than £7.99, it has to go up, it's the law.

Because my wage is spread out over the 12 month's?

You can often find your hourly rate online if you’re working at a state school as they tend to follow bands in the same way they do for teachers. Maybe try a union website?

From what I remember you divide your yearly salary by how weeks you get paid for (so 38 weeks, plus 5 inset days, plus 4 weeks holiday would be 43 weeks) then you divide that by 37. I might be wrong though!

Why are you dividing it by 4? Not all months are 4 weeks.

If you are support staff you are only pad for 44 weeks a year
39 term time and 4 week accrued holiday pay

And yes being support staff is a minimum wage job more or less

I think you would do

20,000 / 39 (salary divided by weeks paid) Then / hours per week for your hourly rate.

Your actual pay would show 20,000 / 12 though as you get paid monthly?

I could have it all wrong though.

You'd need to take your monthly amount and divide by 4 and then divide again by your weekly hours (minus any unpaid breaks first)

Mine hasn't gone up. I am on £9.50ph, minimum wage has now increased to that so I'm now officially on minimum wage. Yay.
