Any medical staff who can advise on covid testing before a hospital appointment where it is a child who will not submit?

My child has a hospital appointment coming up where we have been asked to take them to a covid testing site 3 days prior. DC has SN and will not agree to the test. What, if anything can I do?

Where I work it wouldn't make a difference to you getting the treatment if they won't allow you to do a swab, but obviously I can't speak for every area. I'd suggest calling the ward you're going to and explaining and asking for their advice, but your dc shouldn't be discriminated against for not having a covid swab, and treatment shouldn't be with held because they don't have a swab.

Is it a general anesthetic they're getting?

Thank you for your reply! Yes, will be having a general. Part of the reason is so blood can be taken, as this is something else they refuse, so the notes should reflect the fact that they have difficulties. I have contacted the lead nurse but not heard back.

Can you do a home test and do it while she's asleep?

I've offered this as a solution but not heard back yet. I suppose they could argue that there's no proof I've swabbed dc or done it correctly but it's either that or no swab...
