Anyone else put off starting a thread

I'm completely put off making a thread as I don't want it to end up in the Daily Fail.

I've got an issue at the moment that I'd love to get off my chest and just to be able to have a vent and hear other peoples opinions but the thought it being picked up and used to fill column inches puts me off.
I can't talk to anyone in real life about it either. Confused

Not foolproof but if you can create it in one of the more niche topics, it's less likely to get picked up than a thread in AIBU, Relationships, Parenting or Chat.

Also, make sure you change any non-relevant details to make it less identifying.

I have thought about posting in a less scrutinised area but I'm still totally paranoid about it. Even if I did change the details I know I would be identifiable.

Yes - a combination of appearing in the DM and getting a battering on here. If you post on here then fgs don’t use AIBU - as @Antarcticant says, better to post on one of the smaller boards. Alternatively, if you want to DM me I’m quite happy to listen to your vent and give you my opinion!

I’ve posted before and it’s been in the daily mail, more than once! Totally boring mundane stuff that I didn’t even think would be exciting, look for other websites that aren’t as well known or try Facebook groups I’ve found groups on there to ask for advice and can post anonymous

Thankyou! I may just do that if my issue doesn't resolve itself

There is a board called OTBT ('off the beaten track') that doesn't appear in Active or search engines and posts are deleted after 30 days. The downside to that, of course, is that it's not going to get much, if any, traffic.

please do - happy to help if I can 😊

I'm more worried about getting a flaming on here, tbh. I've often thought I'd love to post for advice but never do, even though I've got a fairly thick skin and am perfectly capable of giving as good as I get.

I wouldn't like anything to end up in a crappy newspaper either, but as I'm not in the UK it wouldn't bother me too much.

I'd namechange of course, but being me I'd forget I'd done so and end up posting in my usual name. So I don't start threads for advice or support.

Some people start threads with 'Crappy Newspaper can Fuck Off' but I don't know if it works.

I suggested a Tea and Sympathy board on a recent ‘if I ruled MN’ thread - posters would only be allowed to post supportive, constructive posts in response to the OP, and if a poster couldn’t cope with that concept they’d be banned from posting on it. I’d love that. AIBU has its place, but sometimes you just want some sound advice.
