Baking question

I've been searching for a carrot cake recipe (one layer, moist and simple as DC don't like frosting), and most recipes use a 7" or 18cm square tin and the one I have is an 8"/20cm. I have a round 8" one too. Is it a big deal? Will it make a difference to the cake? They generally don't rise a huge amount I've noticed from the pictures online so will a slightly bigger tin make them even flatter?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm a total novice at baking! I've seen the Hummingbird carrot cake recommended many times through searching but I'm not quite sure what the measurements would be for a couple of 8" tins.

Won't make a difference, happy baking!

It'll be fine, I usually just check mine 5 minutes earlier if I'm using a larger tin.

cake tin conversion chart

I’ve never used this one, there’s a Mary Berry one somewhere which is very reliable.

A 7" square tin is an 8" round if that helps.

Thank you!
