Car seat for Ukrainian refugees

We are getting ready to welcome a Ukrainian family and I need to get car booster seats. As my own kids are now well into adulthood I would appreciate some advice on what's currently required and what Mumsnetters recommend.
The children are 4 and 10 years old. Does the 10-year old need a booster seat as well?

I have now got info on heights & weights & we don't need a booster seat for the 10 year old & need a Type 2 seat for the 4 year old.

OP, I think it's fine. It's better than they'd be in if they got a taxi from the airport, which would be a perfectly legitimate option.

As you're learning there is a small but vocal minority who are absolute zealots about car seats - for whatever reason (presumably because it's a problem that they feel they can fix with money) some people choose it to be the focus of all their parental anxiety. But we're talking about further reducing a very small risk when people start saying that you simply must not contemplate anything other than extended rear facing or whatever. It isn't proportionate in your case.

I'm going to @bertiebotts because she is both very knowledgeable about car seats and a sensible person.

If you can afford it get an extended rear facing car seat from Axkid for the 4 year old. The safest money can buy.

I'm getting two new car seats for our guests as I don't have any family with unused ones but for anyone else on the thread this is from the car seat safety website:

If you must use a second-hand seat, only accept one from a family member or friend (don't buy one from a second-hand shop, through the classified ads or online). Only accept one from a family member or friend if you are absolutely certain that you know its history, it comes with the original instructions and it is not too old.

Before you agree to accept the seat:

Examine it carefully for damage (but remember, not all damage to child seats is visible to the naked eye).
Make sure the manufacturer's instructions are available.
Check the manufacturer's advice about how old the seat should be before it needs to be replaced.
Make sure the seat is suitable for your child's weight and height.
Try the seat in your car - if you cannot get it to fit securely, do not buy it.
Check that the seat meets the United Nations standard Regulation 44.04 - look for the 'E' mark, or an i-size seat.

I am going to buy a new one.

We have an old one in storage that is probably fine but it is over 15 years old.

I am not going to buy a rear-facing one as it will feel too different for the child and is more than I can afford to buy new.

Is this one OK? www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-group-2-3-belted-car-seat-charcoal/p5636395

Annoyingly Which does not seem to review John Lewis seats.

OP, you can't win. If you'd have come here and said you needed car seat advice people would ask what you'd been putting your children in up until this point and why you didn't know the height and weigh of you children. If you'd have then mentioned that the seats were for refugees you'd have been accused of drip-feeding.

As far as advice goes: I believe all car seats sold have to comply to certain safety standards but my understanding is that the testing involved is minimal and that you're better to read the reviews and pay a little more.
