As above first job interview in 15 year due to be being a SAHM and bringing up our 3 DD’s.

chances of job are very slim, it’s a well know charity and would be doing a more specialised version of what I was doing (qualified in) pre DC.

it’s actually a step into my dream career but that and the fact that it’s my 1st interview in years is making me so nervous.

Does anyone have any tips, advice for how to calm my nerves and how to present myself (personality wise can dress myself!! 🤣) also suggestions of general question I may be asked that I should be prepared for...

The role is described “as and when” which sounds like it may suit me and give a bit of flex, does anyone know if that suggests the flexibility is from the charity’s end of if means I can self hours offers?

Lastly if you could keep your fingers crossed for me that it would be much appreciated! 🤞🏻

I'd take the pressure of myself my focusing on being happy I'd got an interview in my field and use it as interview practice.

Is their anything on their website or in the application information that would help you organise some responses to questions. Any values they focus on?

Also, don't be afraid to admit your nervous if you need to take a second to think or need a question repeated.

In the last couple of years I've taken to bringing notes, I only refer to them if they are happy for me to use them.

Always have a question or two to ask at the end that shows you've done some research about the company.

Good luck.

Do you know what format the interview will take, i.e. will it be competency based?

Was there an advert for the role?

I always try and convince myself that I don't want or need the role to help calm my nerves. I also try and remember that interviews are a two way street. I need to find out if I want to work for them just as much as they need to find out if they want me to work for them.

Being prepared always helps me calm my nerves: know the job description, think of examples when you have performed each task in the past (interviewers like to ask things like 'tell us about a time when you had to be flexible/deal with a difficult client etc'), research the company ('why would you like to work for us?' and 'what do you know about us?' are popular questions), be prepared to have a short blurb ready about yourself and how you would fit the role, and, lastly, have your own question or two ready to show you have thought about the job and are keen.

I usually prepare over a few days (if possible) to let it all sink in so that I don't have to worry about forgetting anything on the day. I have never taken notes with me but it can't hurt to have some ready.
