PIP application - how long from receipt of form to interview?

Hi there, my exP and daughter's father made a PIP application via form in August 2021 but they have not yet offered him an interview.

He has form for lying on these things to me, missing submission deadlines etc. To get him to get the form in took a huge amount of work and now I have doubt that he even submitted it.

I have been encouraging him to try to get PIP because I believe that it would help with his mental and physical health should he be awarded it (he has a debilitating condition) and by proxy any award would help him to be a better father to our child (he is currently living on the poverty line). He would be able to get some helpful therapies and support that he is currently unable to afford and I hope this would make him happier.

Is it normal for an application form to take this long to hear nothing or do you think he might have lied to us about having sent the application form? Any feedback and stories welcome. Thanks.

I sent off my forms for PIP in January this year, had the telephone interview last week. I was told by the interviewer that it will be approximately another 8 weeks before I hear whether or not I'm going to be awarded it.

Ours took around 8 months but it was a transition from DLA to pip, at the height of covid. I'd have thought new applications would take less time.

Not sure why he'd lie about submitting a form for non means tested money though, unless he thinks he'll just have to pay it to you in child support.

I would get him to ring and check that they have received the form back as they can go missing in the post although I think they normally send a text saying they have received it. Eight months is a long time to wait for the assessment.

PIP money cannot be taken as child support I don't think as it is extra money to help with the extra costs of a disability. I may be wrong.

Thanks to people who have been helpful.

@Hallyup89 I'm not expecting or asking for any money for child support (he does not pay me any). The reason I am suspicious is he has form for lying about money, benefits and others. He lied about having applied for jobseekers in the past and sponged off me for a really long time until he came clean about it. Hence I am suspicious that it actually got sent off or not.

Op is he getting all he should be in other benefits ? Does he get Uc and the LCWRA element of that ? Might be worth checking he has been assessed?

Mot everyone gets called for interview. It really depends on the quality of the reports and what is wrong with the person.

This is true but I think if they were just doing a paper based assessment he still would have heard something by now after eight months.
