How long would you wait before going and feeling comfortable to go on the rides?

I would give it at least 6 weeks after major abdominal surgery. All that jiggling around and stress on the incision sites (internal and external) can’t be good.

@AccommodatingAlice absolutely, we’re planning to go in June and I had baby the end of March so I’ll be well over the 6 weeks mark but I remember from my first baby having lots of twinges internally for you to a year after the surgery, the GP and HV said it was normal where thing can get a bit ‘sticky’ inside 🥲

It just feels weird that a couple months after major surgery I’ll be going on some pretty rickety rides and I think it makes me feel a little squeamish. But I think I’ll just start off on something milder (like the merry go round with my 2 year old 😂) and see how I feel!

Based on my own c section recoveries, I’d probably say 12 weeks. Any sooner than that and I’d stick to the tea cups with the 2YO Grin

Depends on your recovery but I would personally stick with CBeebies land Grin

I would’ve been around 5/6 months post op before I felt comfortable enough to go on a ride.

I specifically asked my surgeon this after DC3 as we were going in holiday and I knew the DC would want to go to the funfair!

The surgeon told me to allow 12wks minimum. The wounds are superficially healed after around 5-6 weeks but it takes up to 12 weeks for them to have entirely healed.

megletthesecond · 19/04/2022 10:00

I'd be at least 12 weeks too.
Internal takes longer to heal. This isn't something you want to muck around with.

Ah ok! It will be exactly 12 weeks post op when we go.. I wonder if I can convince them to wait longer 😂

I had an abdominal op and asked about horse riding surgeon said 12 weeks.

6 weeks for driving - due to the pressure of trying to do emergency stop.

I'd say 12 weeks for the big rides.

Babyboomtastic · 19/04/2022 14:48

The more sedate rides, maybe 1-2 weeks. The big coasters I'd probably give it about 6 weeks, though I wouldn't stick to that religiously. I felt fine by a week or two though both times

My only concern would be where the lap bar/by the bottom of the overhead harness would press against the scar, and jolt me against it. I'd build up from the most sedate rides and stop if anything started to hurt.

Dinoteeth · 20/04/2022 08:12

I think at 12 weeks you should be fine, when I asked the consultant he took into account the risk of falling off a horse. But if you could leave it a little longer I would.

But be careful before them my friend thought she was fine, and lifted something she shouldn't have around the 4 week mark and ruptured her c-section wound. That's the last thing you want.
