Why is finding a summer holiday so hard with an 18 and a 15 year old?

After no holidays for the past two years, we want something special, but I am finding the difficulty that by August, DS will be 18 so he'll be classed an adult, so 'teen activities' won't apply. DD will be 15.

An added difficulty is that we all find the heat a bit difficult, so if we're going to be somewhere hot, we don't want to have to lift a finger in terms of our food, but also finding entertainment.

At the same time, we don't want to end up in a family resort surrounded by young children (no offence to anyone with young kids out there, we've been there, we're passed that stage now).

Ideally, we would like a lovely resort with a pool near a beach that offers a lot of activities, like water sports, yoga, gym, excursions...

Half board would be our preference but will consider AI.

I'd be really grateful for recommendations of specific hotels. TIA!

Crete or Cyprus, plenty of water parks , boat cruises, scuba diving.

Hotel Xcarat Mexico. Look at the activities, they're something else.

Echoing the recommendation of the Shangri la in Borneo - went in August. Amazing watersports and also chilling by the pool and beach.

Have you thought about Canada? We went to Quebec with DDs 15 and 17 and it was fantastic. Great weather, amazing scenery, zip wires, boating, gorges, waterfalls, hikes, history, great food. Also great if any of you are interested in French culture.

Really lovely people too. And a really easy holiday.

And DDs are 19 and 21 and we all still love going on holiday together.

We never expected to love it as much as we did.

Oops sorry, I see you’ve already been to Canada.

California?

How about one of the Greek islands or Turkey - self catering? We have a similar age mix and enjoy beach/ snorkelling/ water sports etc during the day and then going out for a lovely meal and maybe cards/ games back on the balcony later. I know you don’t want to worry about food but we don’t cook. Maybe a croissant/ pastry at breakfast and drinks on the balcony while getting ready but nothing more. We usually have a bit of a wander during the day and book a nice restaurant for the evening.

Sorry just re read your op and it’s not what your looking for. We love looking for (and finding) lovely places to eat - keeps us all entertained so maybe with a try?

Switzerland (or Austria) might be perfect for you, and not necessarily just cycling. If you go to one of the lakes there should be water sports, and other activities eg paragliding. Interlaken or one of the resorts nearby )on one of the lakes or in the mountains) makes a very good first Swiss holiday.

There are packages, eg Inghams, Crystal, TUI Lakes & Mountains. Some hotels offer bike hire.

Scotland. Get a nice place to stay - maybe a spa hotel with activities attached

Seychelles, Barbados, Mauritius, South America.

Are you sporty at all OP? You might want to look at Club La Santa, Lanzarote. Hot but not like the med in the summer. So much to do every day, but also just chilling possible. We love it.

£10k for a family of 4, we could easily do Mauritius.
Beautiful, tropical, great food, pools, not a lot of kids about, excursions, perfect beach life: city ratio. Just beautiful

Eden roc resort in Rhodes, a peaceful tranquil location on the beach with water sports, food to die for, I think there were 7 beautiful a la cartes included, lots of bars and some amazing views. I went with my 19 year old and it it’s not far from nightlife.
