1 year old with the tiniest feet

My baby is 13 months - cruising but not yet walking I've probably got a month or two before she does but I'm trying to plan ahead

Has anyone else had a baby with absolutely tiny feet? She isn't even close to a size 1 yet, hopefully she'll be there by the time she needs outside shoes

But even when she does reach size 1 most main stream shoe shops start at 2-3! And Google isn't providing much help

I assume it's genetic as I'm small too 🤷‍♀️

My dd was in cruisers until she was almost 3 years old because walking shoes start at size 3. At almost 12 years old she’s still only a size 13/1. She’s got dh’s feet, he’s a size 6.

Aaaaaw, I know you’re posting to ask about sourcing small shoes but as an aside have you made footprint pictures/clay slab footprints of her titchy feet?
Bless her.

My ds1 had tiny feet at that age. Luckily he was a very late walker and his feet had grown enough for the smallest size by the time he needed them. He has huge feet now!

Yeah my baby has grown along the centiles but her feet are still tiny, she wears newborn size socks!

SmellyOldOwls · 18/04/2022 23:06

At 9 months that should have said Grin

minniep · 18/04/2022 23:11

Yes my daughter has tiny feet. Still a 12.5 at 9 and I'm only a 3 so she takes after me. It's great as she never gets massive foot growth spurts so if you buy decent shoes they last ages. Some of her friends parents are constantly buying new shoes because of growth. The only issue is that she is still in the younger girls shoe section so often can't get the styles she wants

margegunderson · 18/04/2022 23:24

DD2 started walking at 10.5 months and she was tiny. Bought a pair of pram shoes with sturdy soles from Next which started her off then got some Start Rites which were weeny once she'd grown a little more. I can't remember sizes now but they were the smallest things we could find anywhere which allowed her to walk outside.

LostMySocks · 18/04/2022 23:31

DS2 walked really early. We ended up going to am independent kids shoe shop. Think we had a brand called bobux. They went down to tiny sizes although we needed them as DS still had those chubby baby feet that were too high for the first cruisers/walkers

MinesATriple · 19/04/2022 00:37

You might find her feet spread out quickly once she is putting more weight on them, so I wouldn't worry too much just yet.

DD had cruisers for her first couple of pairs, which were absolutely fine in summer, but they weren't that small. Something like Inch Blue might be an option, but you'd obviously have to be careful where she went with them.

NOTANUM · 19/04/2022 00:54

Try French brands because they start at 1 for walking shoes. I had one of mine walk at 11 months with tiny feet and they were the only shoes that fit her.

BigYellowElephant · 19/04/2022 02:59

I had to go to an independent shoe shop in the nearest big city to get size 2 walking shoes for dd1, she was titchy and walked just before 11 months. She ended up losing one of them and I was devastated!

GlamGiraffe · 19/04/2022 03:54

My daughter is tiny. Shes still in pre-walkers aged almost 5. She was walking and her feet were far smaller than the smalkesr shoe available. I uad no option but to put her in soft soled pram shoes and a couple of pairs if socks until she was big enough for a pair of proper shoes. Even though they are extremely soft, leather peam shoes can withstand a fair bit of walking from a toddler if you have no choice.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 19/04/2022 04:13

Yes we had this problem. Dd started walking at 10 months but wasn't even close to a size 2, which was the size that cruisers started at.

Eventually when she was about 14 or 15 months dh found a tiny pair of Startrite size 2 shoes that fit her.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 19/04/2022 04:14

She's 12 now and has had a big growth spurt and is outgrowing her size 1s.

peopleonthebusgoupanddown · 05/05/2024 17:26

@NOTANUM can you recommend any French brands? Just stumbled across this thread as DD is 13 months with size 1.5 feet which have only grown 1cm since birth

NOTANUM · 05/05/2024 18:00

i can’t recall as I bought them in a shop in Golders Green but literally most French brands start at very small sizes, e.g . papouilli.

NOTANUM · 05/05/2024 18:11

It may have been Brian’s shoe shop but it’s a long time ago!

peopleonthebusgoupanddown · 06/05/2024 07:24

Amazing thank you so much @NOTANUM. We are fairly local to Golders Green so will check it out

peopleonthebusgoupanddown · 06/05/2024 08:23

For anyone who finds this thread later, I managed to get some teeny European size 17 pre-walkers with a rubber sole from a brand called Froddo

Bobojangles · 06/05/2024 16:44

And for anyone else who finds it! Kickers start at a size 0 but have proper soles!

Great find! Thank you for sharing.

Did your little one's feet eventually grow?!

She's over 3 now and in a size 4 shoe! (Same size my middle one started walking in)

She's on the 0.4 centile and monitored by paeds who may refer to endocrinology if she doesn't grow a bit more by her 4th birthday. Developmentally shes fine just very tiny.

Her first pair of shoes where an EU 15! Honestly kickers were a life saver and she was over 2 before we could get her in start rite/ Clarks size 2

On the topic of Kickers, mine couldn’t wear them as young kids. At the time, they were heavier than the average shoe and they were tripped up! (Not just the boots) They were skinny little things though! They did grow in the end but still have small feet!

Now mine are old enough to babysit yours so this is very old information but thought I’d mention it just in case yours also turn into skittles.
