Sudden loss of strength in arms? Do you have good upper body strength?

My wrists and well the whole of my arms really seem to have really lost strength lately - they were poor to begin with.

I do have two frozen shoulders (long term, won't thaw) and wonder if that has weakened the muscles in upper arms over time?

What is your upper body strength like?

I bench pressed 50kg today so it's pretty good 😌 but if you have had two frozen shoulders you will need to train to get your strength back again.

Wow 50kg! Shock Not in my wildest dreams could I ever do that. Bloody well done!

I have noticed this recently too OP and am trying to improve it. I think it’s since menopause for me.

I think you will need to get over your frozen shoulder first, are you having treatment?

It's not difficult to gain enough functional strength, you can do it through body weight exercises such as push ups, dips etc. For me it's a feminist issue as it enables women to keep living independently into old age. But what you do between ages 40 and 60 is crucial to future fitness and strength.

I used to think that before I started lifting weights. It really isn't as impossible as you think.

*Not quite there yet but in time Grin

Upper body and back is my favourite for weight training - you get a lot stronger very quickly and i can carry my 2yo on my hip using one arm, which is useful.

Sounds like the frozen shoulder might be the problem if it limits your range of movement. Can you do some flexibility exercises for shoulders/lats/arms (look on YouTube) and if that’s working for you, start adding in some small weights? Or look at kettlebell exercises if you can do these (sorry I don’t know much about frozen shoulders) - kettlebells were my route into weight training.
