Online dressmaking fabric stores?

Houseplantmad · 18/04/2022 15:30

I am looking for some satin crepe and need recommendations please for an online store or, if in London, an actual shop where they may have patterned sc available.

Have posted on arts and crafts but not much happening on that board.

I use Fabric Land

FOJN · 18/04/2022 16:04

I've used Minerva, Dalston Mill Fabrics and Fabric Godmother in the past.

I think Minerva might be your best bet for patterned sc. Dalston Mills are good value but don't offer a huge range of patterned satin crepe.

I also came on to recommend Minerva or Dalston Mill but FOJN beat me to it Grin

pastabest · 18/04/2022 16:31

Minerva have the biggest range and I love that you can often see what other people have made using that material.

What are you making?

Halsall · 18/04/2022 16:35

Croft Mill fabrics is also good.

Halsall · 18/04/2022 16:38

Sorry, just seen that steppingout already said Croft Mill Grin

@pastabest I want to make some wide legged trousers for a wedding. Was thinking a jumpsuit originally but can't be pfaffed with wrangling with it to go to the loo so decided separates would be better. I have two weddings to go to - the first very blingy, according to the bride, as it's an Indian wedding, and the second a low-key but glam summer wedding in a winery in NZ. I thought I could have a blingy top for the first and then a plainer top for the second.

Fabrics galore & Fabric godmother are full of lovely fabrics.

CheeseMaiden · 18/04/2022 17:29

Ray Stitch might be worth a try, they are based in N.London and also sell online

Ooh I've seen lots of people doing that recently. The True Bias Ogden Cami seems to be a popular top pattern to do it with.

NotMeNoNo · 18/04/2022 18:49

Just to say I've had the same thought but debating which top pattern to use. I'm going make the Megan Nielsen Flint trousers pattern.
Lady McElroy fabrics have some great prints, you can buy from lots of stockists including Minerva.

Thanks for the pointers @pastabest and @NotMeNoNo they look great.
