Gift for friend

My best friend is back from overseas but only for 48 hours. I haven't seen her in almost 3 years due to Covid so have missed many birthdays, Christmases etc.. usually we would do a spa day/weekend break/lunch out etc and I would pay but obviously no chance to fit that in this time and unsure when she will next be back in the UK. Am meeting her for a quick coffee before she leaves for the airport what can I get her as a gift as presume she won't have much luggage with her to take something big back?

Depending g on what country she is returning to i would go with a cars a and voucher for a high end store or a wearable gift that isn’t going to take up any room such as a silk scarf etc

Maybe difficult to find a scarf & she may not like it. Earrings, some other jewellery? Perfume? Makeup - nice eye shadow or a book to read on the plane.

Please don't give her perfume, it'll be taken off her at the airport if it's over 100ml.

You sound lovely OP but I'm sure your friend isn't expecting anything from you.

If you really want to give her something why not give her a book to read on her journey or a piece of jewellery that's small enough to take in her handbag.

Thanks everyone book is a good idea. I had thought about perfume but not sure if she just has hand luggage with her and she's not really the jewellery type.

If my friend hasn't bothered to get me anything, I wouldn't bother with her either.

A lot will depend on which country she lives in and if there's anything she can't get (and of course, what she's allowed to take in). I'm overseas at the moment but coming back to the UK shortly (no I'm not your friend lol). If friends wanted to get me anything then....good chocolate, salt n vinegar crisps, packet sauces, spice mixes I might not be able to get/don't want to make....jerk seasoning/Caribbean/Indian curry blends, magazines (I know stupidly priced in the UK but more so overseas), subscrption to a good VPN so she's got a better choice of things to watch. I definitely wouldn't want a silk scarf as suggested previously as I never wear them, and a book is fine though ideally one you know she wants. Headphones could be good, the noise reducing one's or whatever they are. Really annoying trying to listen to an audio book when there are screaming children/noisy engines on the plane.

Hope you have a lovely time catching up.

this is such a lovely idea! what about a pair of earrings? or a necklace? thoughtful, and importantly small enough for her to pack or just wear straight away! I just found this lovely local jewellery brand: www.aureejewellery.com/ which has fab quality jewellery at really affordable prices. I actually just bought my friend some lovely silver hoops - which she loved!

Maybe make a wall or desk calendar with pictures of your hometown and both of you (any selfies or other photos that you have taken together)? It's not going to take up lots of space and it's going to remind her about your and the place she visits etc. Check out photo-calendar-software.com or www.shutterfly.com/calendars, you can make your own calendar with custom design and photos of your choice there and then just print it out.
