What app/platform to learn a language?

Me and DH have decided to learn a language, thinking french having thought about french/German and Spanish. German seemed easier at school but we think that was the teacher!
Not looking to do weekly classes as such, but more something we can do together everyday.
Have heard of Rosetta Stone/babbel etc, any suggestions?

I'm learning Italian on Duolingo. The app is east to use and the complexity language builds up really naturally. I also find that watching things on Netflix in Italian with English subtitles is really useful

I learned a language at school and am now refreshing it with Duolingo - you can get a fair way through without spending any money - I would agree with @Friedaseyebrow - watching a film with subtitles get syou more of the cadence of how people speak - Good Luck

Duolingo.
I'm refreshing my degree Spanish, A level German and doing Danish, Greek and Latin. Grin
It's not a substitute for taught lessons or immersion, but you pick vocab and grammar up.

Duolingo is good for revising vocab also for a penpal/talking to someone in that language, hello talk is good for that.

Duolingo for me too.

I have been learning Japanese for a year now, primarily on Duolingo!

I am a paid subscriber though as it is only £60 a year and well worth every penny. So much better without the ads!

Have tried using other platforms but find Duolingo the most user friendly.

Seems like duolingo is the winner!
Any advice on which language?

I'm doing German but then ( I am this old - ha ha ) I did it for O level - it is quite repetitive but it does remind you of vocab . But not learning from scratch - Friend of DS has been learning Italian via Duolingo having known none - he likes it . DS is doing Norwegian - why oh why Grin - I suspect detective dramas

I would give a couple a go - you can do it for free and then decide what you prefer.

I did 4 languages including French and German and found German the hardest by far. Too many words for “the”.

My son started Spanish at school recently and says it’s way easier to learn than French, he has picked it up really quickly. I also think Spanish is more useful globally (unless you visit France a lot, of course)

I’ve been meaning to do Duolingo Italian to refresh my learning from 30 years ago, beautiful language!
