Today’s Nerdle

Hoping I’ll find some Nerdle fans on MN this morning…

I’ve done today’s Nerdle and got it right but by a process of elimination rather than by me working out the sum.

I can’t get my head around how this calculation works. Can someone cleverer than me PM me with an explanation of why this sum works?

i can't help as did it the same way

Draw it out and it looks easier! The first calculation makes a fraction which is made whole again by the second calculation…

MotherOfSuburbia · 17/04/2022 09:44

If you think of it as a fraction (3/7) and then multiply that by the 21 it's easier to understand than dividing 3 by 7.

Cross post!

Because x and / are equal in when you do it, think of it in a different order with 21/7=3 first, then x3=9

YY to making the first term a fraction rather than a division sum. Hardest one in ages though!

Thank you all! I understand it now.

It took me ages to solve the Nerdle in the first place - normally it takes a couple of minutes but I spent about half an hour puzzling over this tricky one - and then I spent ages trying to work out how it calculated.

It’s proven a good refresher of some Maths I haven’t use for ages!

Has anyone else started doing the cross-nerdle?
