I’m thinking as you get older into your 40s you need to pay more

If I could afford it... I'd get one from Deakin and Blue.

MinnieMountain · 17/04/2022 07:22

I have a long body which means I can’t wear lots of costumes. My current favourite is a Zoggs that cost £40. I generally wear bikinis for swimming which cost £60-70 in total as I’m a different size on the top and the bottom.

wizzler · 17/04/2022 07:33

I have a large chest and always buy bra's from a shop where they are fitted. I buy swimming costumes there too. Favourite is one by Panache.. I think it was £60 ish. Found it was false economy to by cheaper .. I need some serious support!

I paid £120, Deakin and Blue.
I need support up top because I have a big bust, but I wanted plain styling without underwires or clasps. I couldn't find anything any cheaper that suited my requirements.

I've spent years buying cheaper swimsuits and they have not been right. It's actually put me off going swimming. Just after the 1st lockdown I decided to join a gym to go swimming. As I hadn't been spending much money I splashed out & bought an amazing swimsuit from Landsend. It should have been £120 but I got it for £50 - it's fabulous! It's really structured with great tummy support and it's perfect for my large boobs. It's not underwired but still really firm & supportive. It has ruching across the tummy too. It makes me feel confident to go swimming & not worry about how I look - priceless!

I’ve got a lovely one from Eres. They sometimes have them on the Outnet or BrandAlley. Thick material, well cut & supportive. I don’t train in them, they’re more for on holiday and last really well.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 17/04/2022 08:04

I need a long body and boob support. Land’s End provide this for c. £50, with frequent sales. I only use swimsuits for swimming - pools or outdoors - I have never sunbathed in my life.

Would ppl like to link to suits they use? If we want to get very anoraky, I am toying with idea of buying these Magic Goggles. They can't be worth the price, right?

I think with mere D cup my chest furniture counts as nearly non-existent by MN standards -- don't need so much boob support.

Dolfin Uglies were the main choice of our local club swimmers; the only Uglies suit I had went to knackers' yard, recently, after about 5 yrs use. I usually have 2 suits at a time & suppose I get 3-7 years use out of each one. Tyr, Zoggs, Uglies... Nice to change

CMOTDibbler · 17/04/2022 10:44

I don't like the trim on the Uglies, as on long swims I find it can chafe for me.
My current cossies are:

  1. Made by me - one koi carp, one plain black. Blissfully correct in bust and length.
  2. Curvy Bathers penguin cossie for winter swimming. Very nice quality, great length and I'm thinking of a jellyfish print one
  3. Deakin and Blue. Gorgeous. Fantastic to swim in, much more robust than it looks, and I've seen it on women from size 8, A cup to 20 and H cup and it still looks fab.
  4. Wiggle Which isn't a thing of beauty, but is my preferred serious lengths in the pool one as I prefer a bit more coverage
  5. Aplkit long sleeved, for sun protection in the lido, or a bit of warmth in the lake

I hear good things about the magic goggles though. If I didn't need prescription goggles, I would be investing

Glittertwins · 17/04/2022 10:49

Speedo Endurance range is good for basic pool swimming as are Tyr however Tyr are a lot more expensive. Always rinse out the cossie in water afterwards for longevity. My Tyr one has lasted quite a while and is showing no signs of dying yet.

I've been swimming for years and never bother with fancy / prescription goggles. It's all about how they fit your face and any decent retailer will encourage trying on different brands.

I agree. And they're about £13 on Ebay, brand new with tags.

TokyoSushi · 17/04/2022 11:24

I have one from Boden, it was about £60 which is very expensive for me for a swimsuit, however you can massively tell the difference!

itssquidstella · 17/04/2022 11:28

@emmathedilemma have you found any brands which are good for a longer body? I’m 5'11" and find most swimming costumes ride up and give me awful camel toe, as well as digging into the wrong bit of my hips, which is super unflattering.

emmathedilemma · 17/04/2022 11:31

@itssquidstella I'm not as tall as you but my latest one is this which i bought because people on the reviews said it was longer in the body. www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-moda-womens-legsuit-notte It's a swimming suit not a holiday swim suit though.
I think Zoggs do a longer length in some styles.

MinnieMountain · 17/04/2022 12:52

@itssquidstella I’m 5ft 10 and have just bought a Zoggs Sumatra which has adjustable length straps. Boden also do long sizes.

itssquidstella · 17/04/2022 12:54

Thanks @emmathedilemma and @MinnieMountain, I'll check those out!
