Angry child with panic attacks

Posting for traffic as we are seriously struggling.

A bit of background, my DS is 7 and has a liver transplant done at 4 months old. He's just gone on the waiting list for possible ASD due to some sensory issues.
He's home educated at the moment due to being CEV and he also has reflex anoxic seizures which are mainly brought on by pain or shock.

At least 4 times a week now my DS is having what are very clearly panic attacks. They are triggered by getting angry mainly, the last one today was because he called his brother names and was told not to. He starts off growling, shouting "you are making me stressed" then starts breathing faster saying "I don't feel good" and then it goes into a full blown panic attack where he is like a caged animal. Full on hyperventilating, can't catch his breath it's dreadful to watch.

We've been told the waiting list is around 2 years. Are supposed to wait till then or will they give us any help before hand?

Is there any help out there because this is so distressing for him and us.

He wont listen to calming music, if you try and talk to him he screams and thrashes more saying "you aren't making it better, please help me" Sad

How does he come out of it?

If you look carefully at how the situation de-escalates naturally, you may be able to facilitate that happening more quickly.

His Dad stroking him and shushing him mainly. Once he's fully gone and running off though, we've got to let it run its course which is dreadful. He hides while rocking. Sometimes trashes the room too.

And if you try to contain him to one room he goes absolutely berserk. Panics worse saying "let me out, let me out"
