Really good sofa bed (that will be permanent bed every night?)

Over crowded. No way to move, please don't suggest any other options as there aren't any.

3 teenage boys sharing a single room so I'm going to get a sofa bed and sleep downstairs and give one of them my room and divide the larger room into 2 for the remaining boys.

Budget of about 2k for bed. Any suggestions please?

I'm not arsed about not having a bedroom, I'd rather them be comfortable. I chose to have them, if anyone should be put out it should be me 😂

All the reviews, even the best ones seem to say for occasional use

Furl but very expensive.

IKEA corner sofa bed used be £400 last year, now it's £750. Not very comfortable and feels like it is meant to least only a few years.

No need to be defensive about sleeping on a sofa bed. Millions of people do it every night, what do you think people in studio flats do?

We got a great one about 7 years ago from a company that has sadly since gone bust, but it now needs replacing. So am watching this thread with interest!

Could you do a wall bed instead? We’ve got one and it’s brilliant. We have a regular mattress from
IKEA on it and it’s so much more comfortable than a sofa bed.

I had a Futon sofabed for many years, and it was excellent. The mattress needed replacing eventually. It was solid wood and all you had to do to turn it into a bed was sort of pull the sofa seat up and out. It folded back in reverse. One of the most comfortable sofas and beds I've ever had.

Like this.__ Mattresses look like they've improved.

The Oswald from Heals is designed to be slept on every night I think. I’ve tried it out and it feels lovely. It’s just over your budget but they often have bank holiday sales on of 20% off which should bring it back into line.

The other thing you can do is look at the clearance pages of high end manufacturers (Darlings etc) as you can get an ex-display or slightly scratched top notch sofa bed for within your budget. I hear that Loaf sofa beds aren’t comfortable though so avoid them.

What about a Murphy bed instead?

I had an awesome one from M&S they had the option to upgrade the mattress which I did and everyone who used it said it was really comfortable.

Unfortunately not as our living room is TINY and we need 2 couches in there. We wouldn't have the room to move the sofas each night to pull a wall bed down

I’d get a sofa from IKEA - we have the Soderhamn.

Indestructible. Washable covers. Will last forever and still look good as new. It makes a good sized, comfortable single bed if you take the back/arm cushions off. It is very firm though so you’d have to be okay with that. You could get a memory foam topper to make it extra comfy for sleeping on.

I've got this one and lots of people have slept on it and found it comfortable. I've slept on it myself for several weeks at a time. It does have a split in the middle, but one side of the split is single bed sized, and you can stretch over onto the other side if you want. It's £320.

Like a pp said the 3 seater click-clack sofa beds (from Futon company or Cambridge futon company) are excellent beds and easy to swap between bed and sofa.
Guests & lodgers who’ve slept on it when pulled out were surprised it’s a sofa bed as it’s that comfortable and looks like a proper bed when pulled out. We still have it in dd’s room and have slept on it ourselves many night and can confirm it’s a good bed.
The only downside is as a sofa they are bulky and the mattress needs pulling up in to position sometimes so if your sofas get heavy use it might not be the best option.

We have one Nauru and it’s brilliant but bought another one more recently and it’s no where near as high quality. The customer service was poor and the bed is not as comfortable. I think they have changed ownership so I would think carefully before buying a Nauru.

We have vimle ikea. It’s been comfy when we used during home renovations and family sleep on it for 1-2 weeks at a time. You can get 2 seat, seater or a corner version. We have corner and use the lift up storage part to store the bedding

I've got a next corner sofa bed, I got it 2nd hand from my mum she paid about £2000. It's got storage for the duvet & pillows and is really comfy, as a sofa and bed.

It looks great and modern too. I use a memory mattress topper for extra comfort, not that it's needed to give it a more real bed feel.

Have you seen the Jay-Be options? They do folding beds, sofa and chair beds and are good quality for regular / everyday use. //www.jaybe.com

Could you replace one sofa with a long ottoman right up against a wall bed, with big cushions for the back? When you want the bed those cushions go on the floor in front of the ottoman and the bed folds down over it. No need to move the ottoman. And if you want to watch TV in bed you can use the ottoman cushions.

DP. Has said about moving a big cabinet we have on one wall and putting a Murphy bed in. Measurements seem to suggest it will fit so thankyou.

Never would have thought of that

I'm lazy and would find making up a sofa bed a faff.
I'd get a 4ft double divan bed, with no headboard, and push it with the long edge up against the wall. I'd then put cushions along the long edge and use it like a sofa in the day.
If you get a divan with drawer storage you can use the drawers for your personal things and clothes.

Decided on this. Looks simple enough so hopefully not too much work each day and means I can keep my nice mattress

Years ago my friend lived in a studio flat and bought her sofa bed from M&S. She upgraded her mattress to an interior sprung mattress. I don't know if that's still an option?
