Have these worked for anyone?

I did lose weight on Zenical but think most of it was because I shit myself every time I ate anything remotely fatty. It was horrible. Didn’t stay on it long

A bit, years ago. If you take them, do not EVER eat something greasy like lasagne. I speak from bitter experience.

Gingerkittykat · 14/04/2022 00:47

I've never experienced stomach pains as bad as when I ate a bit of sausage after when I was on xenical.

They are a waste of time, if you want to eat fatty stuff then you just skip the tablet.

I lasted about a fortnight on them and will never touch them again.

I can't eat any fat because of gallstones at the moment. Would taking Alli mean I could eat the fat, but have diarrhoea instead of eating fat and having to go to hospital 😂

I just feel like I’ve tried everything. GP doesn’t seem to want to help. I’m in my 30s and never struggled with weight before now. Bloods show nothing. I have 3 children. Eat within the right calories. Eat healthy. Exercise. Drink plenty of water. Nothing is shifting it. Constantly at 100kg give or take about 3kg

I did ok with orlistat. The side effects are messy but they become manageable. They are no good if you have a high carb diet though. My problem was I became lazy and would indulge knowing I could just take a pill, so I wasn’t loosing any weight just staying the same after a while.

I’ve just started saxenda injections. Too early to say on weight but ive already noticed a reduction in appetite. I’m terrible for night eating, especially crap food, so this is very good for me so far. This is my second try. The first time I was hit with bad side effects. This time ive started on a very low dose to build my tolerance up and it’s working, hardly any side effects.

I only started taking orlistat 5 days ago but I’ve been absolutely fine. I’ve been very particular with my diet, as the GP suggested and no side effects at all. I have been sticking to wholegrain rice, pasta and bread, boiled eggs, semi skimmed milk, potatoes etc. As long as you are staying away from fats, you should be ok.
I suffer a lot with IBS and I cannot remember the last time I wasn’t bloated however, I’ve noticed since taking orlistat, I’ve not been bloated at all and this has made a massive difference already to the way my body looks.

No. They're rubbish. They're a leftover from a time when we believed fat was the enemy - now we know it's not, and in fact it's important. If there was one that made you shit yourself every time you ate sugar it might be more useful!

Saxenda has worked for me. It's not cheap, but I've lost 5 stone in 18 months with a combination of two courses of Saxenda (about 3 months each time) and calorie counting, using the Fast 800 recipe book to cook high protein, high fat, low carb meals.

after 3 weeks of being on orlistat i have lost weight (6 lbs) which is amazing. If you think yeh i can eat what i want and loose weight your wrong this drug makes you think about what your eating and i think overall it teaches you to have a better diet day to day. If you go to your local fast food resuarant and your taking orlistat you will have nasty side effects, however if you eat low fat you will loose the pounds and have little to no side effects - https://healthful-online.com/c2831/orlistat.html
