Anxiety keeping me awake ?

Hi so I have this issue.
If I have plans out of the ordinary the next day sometimes I can't sleep ..other times I can (god knows )
Last night I went to bed at 11 Pm and still awake at 4 am
Woke up at 5 am
I was terrified that I wouldn't sleep
And would ruin today's plans
It was that awful feeling before you go to the dentist or something else you hate.
I was sweating and the more time was going on it got worse.

Anyway it was anxiety that kept me from sleeping wasn't it?
Adrenaline ?
How do I stop This?
I normally sleep great

Any tips for getting through a long travel day now on 1 hours sleep
I don't like coffee
But don't mind red bull

I can be a bit like that, I usually try and distract my mind by doing something like naming animals beginning with each letter of the alphabet, or Henry VIIIs wives. Weird, I know, but I’m normally asleep in a few minutes and it stops me thinking about whatever is causing me anxiety.

To hack a night's sleep in 20 minutes yoga nidra is amazing...lots of videos on YouTube . To encourage restful sleep magnesium is amazing...it is not a sedative... so you never wake up groggy

By the way for me I can't go near drinks like red bull they give me a massive heart race / panic attack

Annoyingly I normally sleep like a baby.
It's just when I'm anxious about not being knackered the next day ...I can't sleep.
I've tried night nurse but it makes me feel dodgy the next day (worse than if I hadn't of took it )

I don't normally drink red bull
Unless it's in a jäger (once in a blew moon)
I might just try a lucozade

Honestly yoga nidra is amazing to hack a night's sleep when you haven't had one !

doubleshotcappuccino · 13/04/2022 07:22

Lucozade will give you the up but then the slump when the sugar level drops again

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/04/2022 07:26

do you drink tea?

On the days after a bad night - did your worst fears materialise, did you miss the train/bus/meeting, did everyone laugh at the mistakes you made in your presentation - ...........well hopefully not so you can remind yourself of how you did survive despite not much sleep. You felt rough but in fact everything went reasonably well.

Magnesium before you go to bed, and a good bedtime routine.
