If so, what is it?

I want to live vicariously for a moment!

I look after people's pets and walk dogs. The dogs like to sniff lampposts and chew grass sometimes. The cats give me filthy looks and scatter some cat litter around, but that's as bad as it gets really 😄

No Sad

I work in comms for a luxury department store and to be honest don't often experience any stress in my job. I'm busy, at times extremely but I thrive of spinning plates and the variety of my role is really interesting. The only job I ever felt stressed in was a sales role years ago.

Lyricallie · 12/04/2022 22:48

I'm pretty stress free. I have a busy job and it's challenging but not particularly stressful. I'm currently on secondment writing new processes and procedures for changing the way we review things/manage projects. However it's only for a year and then I'll need to find another role.

Also in comms and rarely stressed! I imagine there are some very stressful comms jobs though...

I work full time in the NHS in a medical professional job and don't really feel stressed.
I know what I'm doing and I've been doing it for 40 years, so it's all pretty routine for me.
I have to say other newer staff don't feel the same.

lechatnoir · 12/04/2022 23:02

I work for a charity and offer funding to individuals and organisations so they can run free community events. It's a lovely job made all the nicer because they are a great company to work for, very flexible and pretty generous employee benefits and 90% of the time is stress free.

maddy68 · 12/04/2022 23:05

Ok I would love to have a stress free job. But I am a teacher about to leave because I simply cannot carry on

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 12/04/2022 23:09

No, no and a million times no.

Don't ever change career to payroll manager within NHS.

I’m going to second this. Off on mat leave at the moment and honestly I’ve never been this stressed at my job… EVER.

I love my work- it sure helps!

OutlookStalking · 12/04/2022 23:18

Lechatnoir that sounds brilliant!

catinboots123 · 12/04/2022 23:23

I used to be a lecturer and the stress nearly killed me. Now I'm a special advisor for a charity and I have no stress. Yes I have busy days, but I work 9-5, get left alone by my manager unless I need support, and don't do a single thing for work out of my scheduled hours. I love it.

I also know I'm very, very lucky.

ChicCroissant · 12/04/2022 23:28

I think every job has some kind of stress during the time you are working - the test for me is if you can go home at the end of the day and not worry about work things then. In my current job (retail) I'm not worried about work outside of my working hours. In one of my previous jobs (HR) I worried all.the.time!

lechatnoir · 12/04/2022 23:33

It really is and I feel so lucky BUT less than a year ago I was posting on here about my old hideously stressful job & wondering whether I should tell my arsehole boss to shove it (I didn't) and quit without a job to go to (I did!) and can confidently say I would never have even considered my current role if I wasn't unemployed and panicking completely open to new ideas.
blueshoes · 12/04/2022 23:40

Not currently. I am in a super busy and stressful role which pays 50% more than my previous stressless less senior role. I am currently growing and training a new team, which is why it is stressful, but looking forward to saner hours once the team is up and running.

The previous role was stressless because I was one in a big team and there was always someone else to pick up the slack if it got even a little too much. I am going to downshift back to such a role when I get closer to retirement ... still dream of those days.

Agapornis · 12/04/2022 23:48

@lechatnoir would you be willing to share which charity... I'm looking for a new grants related job, and tired of working for crap charity employers! (have also quit without a job to go to!)

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 12/04/2022 23:48

It's nothing but stress.

And then more stress. Never boring though.
