Do you take any unprescribed supplements and why?

I’m not talking of for example iron supplements prescribed by the GP because you’re anaemic or whatever. I mean ones you get otc.

I broke my shoulder badly last autumn. I’m mid 50s and waiting on a bone density scan to see if I have osteoporosis. In the meantime I thought vitamin D and calcium might help the healing process. I’m fine now but still taking them.

I also have a touch of arthritis in my knees and take glucosamine which is supposed to be good for cartilage. Sometimes I think it’s helping, other times I think it’s just a placebo effect.

Ps I mentioned to the hospital about the vitamin d and calcium and they agreed it was a good idea.

Yes, high dose vitamin D, iron occasionally, B12 and magnesium.
I have my bloods done every couple of years and I was on the lower end of all of these. I'm quite sporty so like to keep myself in optimum health.

Vitamin D, multi vitamins, vitamin C, glucosamine and chondroitin plus good quality fish oil.

I had a vitamin D deficiency in my past and don’t want that again. Multi vitamins (for women)and extra vitamin C to just stay healthy and the fish oil for my joints. The glucosamine and chondroitin helps my joints as well as I am in peri.

I realise it sounds like a lot but life is busy and being in peri means I feel like I need to look after myself.

I just take Vitamin D.

I can't decide whther to take calcium or not. I'm mid 50s, take long term medication to prevent brest cancer coming back, and my dexa scan revealed ostopeania (a possible forerunner of osteoporosis).
GP advised me to increase calcium in my diet.

My immune system seeems low at the moment so I'm also considering taking Vitamin C and Zinc.
