I was unwell in bed with my mental health until I got up at 4pm. I was in a a bad way and didn't even think to get up and get a drink. I am normally good at drinking
Will this have caused harm ? Anyone else who hasn't drunk for long periods been ok

No, I was hospitalised with food poisoning in my second pregnancy as I could not keep any water down (and this was after months of terrible morning sickness) Baby was completely fine.

How far along are you? I got dehydrated and ended up on a drip being monitored but I was 41 weeks at the time. Baby was absolutly fine.

Soubriquet · 10/04/2022 17:16

I had hypermesis for 12 weeks with dd

Vomited so badly I was severely dehydrated and needed to be on a drip 3 separate times in the hospital.

She’s 9 now

You will be absolutely fine. Have a drink of water now. Hope you feel better.

I was extremely dehydrated with DS3, I ended up in hospital with an acute kidney injury. I was severely unwell and vomiting blood but baby was absolutely fine. Please try not to worry! (Though I appreciate that’s easier said than done)

I am 12 weeks.

Have a drink and try to relax- babies are tough cookies. If you cant stop worrying ring your midwife.
When I'm in a depression I have a tin of biscuits/crisps/snacks under my bed and three large bottles of water, so if I cant get up I can at least put an arm under the bed and eat/drink- I know sometimes even that's hard but it's really helped me not to get too dehydrated/hungry/headachy when my mental health is bad. No it doesn’t sound like you are severely dehydrated so won’t have any impact on the baby.

If you struggle drinking large amounts you could just sip a drink or eat foods with a high water content like apples or melon.

liveforsummer · 10/04/2022 18:16

No, your body looks and yet baby first so any effects from this will happen to you first. I doubt you'd be dehydrated even without another life to support anyway. Rushing around maybe but not lying in bed. Hope you're feeling better soon

Babies in uterus will take everything from their mum so you will be poorly before they are.

Having said that you need a strategy to make sure you can take care of your needs through this pregnancy. Like a PP said, can you keep snacks and drinks by your bed, is there anyone who could be on call if you need help or can you set reminders on your phone to go and eat something?

I had bad morning sickness and often didn't eat or drink for 24 hours or more. Anything I did consume came back up shortly after . Baby was fine but if your worried speak to your midwife

hfjdndhgts · 11/04/2022 09:27

Thanks. Although I feel like that's not as bad as you were drinking, but it came back up. I literally just didn't drink at all 😐

Please try not to worry and speak with your midwife if you are really anxious.

I had many weeks of vomiting far more liquid than I had drunk. Baby was fine

However as others have suggested maybe try and make it easier for yourself to drink regularly. Water bottle always full and nearby, or if not keen on water maybe some juice, lemonade, fruit tea?
All the best with your pregnancy.
