...and I'm still so sad about it. Please make me feel better with your words/wtf car stories.

Picked up a new car today (yay)!

Garage interested in my old car, a 07 Yaris, agreed 1500.

I reversed into a lampost(that came out of nowhere, honest!) OUTSIDE THE GARAGE.

When mechanic was finally able to get me to talk, he agreed to give me 1k and off I went.

I can't believe it, still sitting on the couch beating myself up.

Please help me feel better with your stories.

Was about to sell my car for 2.500 due to new ULEZ, went to the gym and forgot key on top of car (keyless engine). Got home switched off the car and couldn't find the key. Called key assist but sadly I wasn't covered. I then called a firm I found online to come and fix the car and they ruined my electrics. Ended up selling the car to a scrap yard for £200.

I reversed my car into a lamppost while parallel parking outside a client’s house and managed to put a split in the bumper and dent the boot just below the handle - thankfully didn’t affect use of the car and so left it as it was.

Another car, waiting to turn left out of university campus car park and someone on the same course reversed out of a space straight into me - no damage to my car but they bent the boot in such a way that it couldn’t be opened and she had to have a completely new boot door and also part of the floor creased so needed repairing too.

Lastly, was driving on a Friday evening to pick DM up from her DB & DSIL and a car rear ended my car (same one as the university incident and only about 3 months later); driver full of apologies and gave me his business card and details of his insurance company say they would settle completely and he wouldn’t contest fault - he was an insurance damage assessor 🤦‍♀️😱🤣 He managed to crack the plastic strip that was part of the boot mechanism and also the bumper/number plate. Repairs came in at a few hundred £’s and was dealt with rather quickly (and I got a rather lovely food hamper plus bunch of flowers as well as part of his apology!!)

My DH sprays cars, fixes scratches and dents. He has regular customers. Often hitting their own car, on their own driveway, in the same place, several times a year.

When I was 7 months pregnant I drove back to my home town for a few days. Stayed with friends in a village. First night got there in the dark. Got stuck between houses. Whilst attempting to turn around I scraped my car against a wall. Few days later I was driving to the city centre to pick up DP who had stayed for the weekend. Was doing 35 on a 40 road. Went round a bend (not a tight bend) and ploughed into 3 cars that had already been in an accident. The man whose car I'd driven into was about to have a go until he saw my baby bump. Had to tape the bonnet shut to get back to London and had to claim the whole lot on my insurance. Car was 2 years old 🤦🏻‍♀️

Away for the weekend in The Uk. We took both cars to be able to fit the dog, kids and all the stuff in.
Swapping cars around and I drove into DHs car and damaged both.
Luckily he doesn’t care about stuff like that and nobody was hurt, cost a few hundred quid each though

Someone I know had bicycles on their roof rack, the kind where the bikes are upright.
She forgot they were on there when she drove into the garage. The door was nowhere near tall enough to accommodate them.

We had a similar experience involving bicycles on top of a canal boat and a low bridge.

DD was a few days off her first years insurance with no claims, brakes failed and she rear ended another car, total write off.
Got a new car and within 2 days wrote that one off as she had misjudged a bend as it was a more powerful car.
Got another car and after a month wrote that one off too.
Needless to say she is car less for the time being!
