No caffeine and no naps?

I was wondering if there's anyone on here who completely avoids caffeine and other stimulants and doesn't nap either, but stays awake for, let's say, 14 hours a day every day? If so what the hell is your secret?! Do you feel alert or just drift through life like a zombie?

Me on working days.
I get very little sleep and work 12.5 hour shifts.
I'm always tired. My job is very mentally tiring and because of this I just power through.
On my days off I sleep in.

I only drink decaf coffee so pretty much no caffeine. My 2 year old woke up at 5am today and I won't go to bed until 10 ish so over 14 hours. I think my body is just used to it by now Grin although I do keep very busy and get out the house otherwise I'd probably end up wanting a nap!

I don't do caffeine as I have anxiety and palpitations.

Given the chance I would sleep 9-10 hours at night (chronic illness) but on school/work days I have to get up way earlier than I would naturally.

I nap on my day off and have huge lie ins at the weekend (my son is a teenager so thankfully the forced early starts have stopped since he was about 10)

I'm also perpetually exhausted, crabby and mean. I feel so much better when I can sleep as much as I need to. 😑

Caffeine free here and usually have lots of energy! It’s not going to be what you want to hear though. I avoid sugar/junk food, take supplements, protein powder, and work out 3/4 times a week. If I ever slip back into eating junk I feel awful, so tired, it’s just not worth the days of exhaustion!

I drink a cup of tea some days, but not others and could easily give it up. I have a baby, plus two older DC, so am up all day every day. I only resort to coffee on really really bad days, but otherwise I have enough energy to keep up with the kids. No idea how, other than I’m always on the go so don’t really get a chance to feel sleepy.

I never have caffeine, it gives me horrendous palpitations. I'm up at 6 every morning to walk the dogs, and finally crash at 11pm.

Never run out of energy, but I'm also diabetic and obviously avoid sugar and processed carbs which massively helps.

If you can't get through the day without caffeine or other stimulants or needing a nap I would be making an appointment with the Dr.
(I'm aware this may read as snarky but it's genuinely not meant that way)

I’ve been on decaf tea & coffee since my early 20s (am 41) due to dreadful migraines that it triggers, & insomnia. I don’t nap except occasionally when I have a particularly bad migraine. I went for years on about 6 hours sleep a night on average. Felt awful TBH. Have managed to increase it to about 8 recently with supplements. I still get the migraines, but feel better otherwise. I don’t really have any tips though.

Have you recently given up caffeine? You only struggle without it if you’re dependent on it. Like any drug really. You can get used to it.

I really don't understand what you mean here. I drink decaf, have never napped and am awake for more than 14 hours per day. There are loads of us like this surely!

I gave up caffeine a few years ago after previously being fairly addicted to it. (I would have suffered terrible headaches if trying to go cold turkey, within a few hours)
I gave it up after a fair amount of research on the subject. I was so sick of waking and feeling like crap until my first coffee of the day, which sometimes I couldn't get round to straight away due to young kids/school run madness 🤦🏼‍♀️
I just wanted to have some get up and go straight away in the mornings, as it was I felt so bad anyone would think I'd had a heavy night on the lash the night before and I was feeling guilty about the disorganised mornings for the kids.
So I slowly weaned myself off the stuff and have never looked back. I am so much more alert in the mornings, no longer feel reliant on a caffeine boost to get me through an afternoon lull. I don't have them really! I just make sure I stay hydrated and I'm fine. I think the mindset of thinking that everyone needs caffiene and there must be some secret behind being caffiene-free just comes from long-term addiction and having forgotten that it's actually not a natural part of the human diet. It's a drug. No offence I'm not trying to say you or anyone else is a junkie OP! It's just become such an accepted part of our culture, but if you get caffeine out of your system entirely you'd see you really don't need it at all. A glass of water and an apple has as much power to wake you up as a cup of coffee Grin
