Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to finish my first cuppa of the day & will probably make a coffee shortly. The washer's already going (I'm sure the girls have been next door for extras 🤔). The sun's out so it'll all go on the line 🌞

I don't think we're doing much today other than a tidy up, and cleaning all the floors. I might clean/clear out the cup cupboard - they seem to have been breeding 🤣

Dd2 was going into town with their dad but decided yesterday that she cba 🤷‍♀️

This suits me fine - I want to carry on prepping the resources/materials needed at Rainbows and Guides this term so everything's ready to "grab and go". Dd1 will more than likely help with some of this. There's a new craft I want to try, and I want to carry on with the second crochet dino for my friend's ds 🦖

It'll be something chickeny for tea, I think, and we'll probably nip to the shops for sweets for later on.

What about all of you? :)

Good morning; I love these threads @lucysmam! One of my favourite things for bringing stress levels down and just being in the moment. 🌻

We’re in bed, having coffee (used to be a BIG no-no for me, drinks in bed, but DH was ill last year and had an extended recovery period and we got used to a leisurely cup of coffee in bed. We love it now).

DH is reading, and I’m on here.

I’m also browsing for picnic baskets (my birthday present this year) and I think I’ve found the one I want. A dinky little two-person hamper in cream and grey.

I’ve got visions of elegant picnic lunches in our beautiful local park - mini bottle of wine, just enough for a small glass each, a good cheese, DH’s fantastic ciabatta. Maybe a small selection of charcuterie and antipasti as well.

Or sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies and piccalilli! Had with a lovely ale...

Later we will tackle the huge pile of clean laundry (DH puts his away, I do mine).

We’ve not got any other plans for the day. It’s very sunny just now but cold so we’ll probably stay in.

I’m not sure what I’ll make for dinner. Something on a Tex Mex theme, maybe, as I’ve got an avocado that’s ready to use and a tin of mixed beans which would be easy (not in the mood for anything taxing today - I’m not feeling 100%. DH would happily cook but he’s still not completely recovered and he works at a very stressful job so on his days off i want him to rest).

I need to pack up two return parcels ready to send off on Monday. I also need to write out two birthday cards to niece/nephew and get those ready to send on Monday.

We might put up two wall clocks - moving the one from the kitchen to a different room and replacing it with another.

I will do one small load of washing.

There’s loads of cleaning to be done - the kitchen cupboards need a good wipe-down and the floor needs mopping as well. The whole house needs hoovering. But that won’t get done today.

@Soontobe60 I’m sorry about your mum. Flowers Hope you have someone to look after you when/if you need it.

Simonjt · 09/04/2022 12:29

Very well @lucysmam, she is most definitely in charge!

namechangeanonymous · 09/04/2022 12:41

Were off to finalise babies cot and pay for it then as it's our last big purchase think we will go for a nice treat meal.
Tonight I'll probably be in my pjs about six with chocolate and I fancy a glass of non alcoholic fizz.

Fuckitsstillraining · 09/04/2022 12:42

I'm having a cup of tea (and some fudge) right now, double line of washing out and another wash one. Husband is putting down new floor throughout the house, only rooms not being done is kitchen and bathrooms, it's interesting to listen too at times!! I'll be taking a sledgehammer to the Fred Flintstone corner unit in the sittingroom before the floor is changed, have already demolished and replaced the fireplace (was all built-in stone work, very 80's), will then tackle the IKEA furniture we got which husband thinks is just until we get 'proper' furniture built-in but in reality its there to stay, we intend moving in a few years and renting this house out so I'm just not bothered with excess fuss. In between all that I'll be grabbing my crochet and trying to get a bit more of the baby blanket I'm working on, baby nephew due in June and I've yet to start the christening blanket.

Nnique · 09/04/2022 12:45

Tea and fudge sounds amazing!

Afternoon @lucysmam. Not a lot going on here we've all had non Covid horrible virus. Sore throat, headache and cough. DS is mostly better, I'm improving but DH is at full Man Flu levels, so just about alive 😂
Luckily it's the start of the Easter break so no urgency to get the usual weekend jobs done

blackheartsgirl · 09/04/2022 13:58

We’re all recovering from covid, dd1 has it now, but the rest of us are now ok. I woke up at 930, unusual for me and had a coffee in bed, took dd2 to her friends, had a delivery from ikea, did 2 tip runs, tidied up the house, laundry and sorted socks. I’m about to go in the bath and chill for the rest of the afternoon. I’m exhausted. Covid has took it out of me!

NAME3CHANGE · 09/04/2022 14:06

Well got up and put the washing on , made a brew and took my vitamins.

Vacumed my room then took the vacuum into my daughter's so she could do hers

Made a pasta bake for lunch.

Went over the road to my niece's and did her hair for a birthday party, then watched the children for half an hour while the mum did a job.

Just sat at home now wondering what to do with myself, and wondering if I can justify a little nap
(First day of easter holidays, its been a long term at work ) zzzzzzzzzz

Daughter has done a paperround and dine an hour with her maths tutor. Husband is at work untill 7 ish.

Son has done sod all, been on his xbox. I should take him for a walk or read with him.

But sleep sounds really good atm zzzzzz

I love reading these threads but they also make me feel like a terrible parent at the same time.

I have three pre teen DC , all with ASD and not one of them will leave the house at weekends. I’m so trapped I could suffocate at times (they can’t be left alone). I suggest so many things and they outright refuse Sad . DH works away so it’s just me, DC and the cats at home.

It’s 2pm and all three DC are still in pjs Blush .

Silkierabbit · 09/04/2022 14:41

I am doing chemotherapy 3 weeks in and 9 to go so I am just in bed and have been researching neuropathy to see if I can do anything. Done a few exercises and also been researching new schools for DS who is struggling and ASD /mute.

DH has just gone to post a parcel and just back and now talking to the 17 year cat who is not impressed with him as she is on meds from the vets and DH is giving them to her. The silkie chicken also borked at DH when he went to feed her.

DD (16) is in Paris for a week with French MIL and going out today with some family friends in the forest with their dogs. She has GCSEs starting soon and wanted to practice her French.

DH made a mozzerella, ham and onion omelette for lunch.

DS (15, asd) is doing nothing much just lying on the sofa with his indoor rabbit snuggling, also doing nothing much, two lazy boys together.

Birds are singing outside and a nice day. DH is just telling DS that we have been given a free night in a hotel by the river on Thursday night with dinner and breakfast by a cancer charity.

Soontobe60 · 09/04/2022 17:18

Hey @Silkierabbit I do hope you’re not finding the treatment too grim. I was chatting to a friend recently about her treatment for breast cancer - she’s 3 years in now. She said the best thing she did was to access counselling via Macmillans through the hospital, and it gave her a whole different perspective on her life. I hope you’re able to have similar support. Enjoy your day x

Soontobe60 · 09/04/2022 17:21

Thank you @Nnique and @Eggsley
I’ve had a lovely day so far sorting through all my mum’s old photos - brought me tears and laughter! I’ve just had a nice nap - mum would have approved as she always had a nap on Saturday afternoon when she could!

Silkierabbit · 09/04/2022 18:33

Thanks Soon and so sorry to hear about your Mum.

This bit of treatment the chemo is pretty grim but another 9 weeks to go and then that is over and just radio for 3 weeks (which mainly seems to cause tiredness) and then hormone tablets so hopefully can still have a summer break.

DH is going to make steak in red wine sauce with new potatoes and aspargus for dinner, he is just having a nap first.

Silkierabbit · 09/04/2022 18:34

And yes do have counselling via Macmillan, 6 sessions from BUPA / OneBright. Its mainly just her saying that sounds awful but an hour of sympathy a week is lovely. Grin
