Pay grades

Looking for a bit of advice from anyone with bright ideas.

I've recently discovered that I am being paid at the wrong pay grade. Private sector, large multinational. I've brought it up and been told that they agree with me and they're speaking to HR to get this put right.

I'm desperate to know what the correct salary for my role would be as I'm worried that they'll offer a paltry sum just to stop me complaining about their mistake.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can find out what the pay scale for my correct grade would be? Is there a site or service that provides this that anyone has used?

I would ask my colleagues but it is viewed very darkly if we talk about salaries and I know from talking to them both that they are paid above the correct grade for the job role as they have transferred in from other departments.

Has anyone got any bright ideas on how I can find out salary grades for various companies please?

HR will have al the info

@DramaLlamaAlwaysLaughs Thanks, I don't really want to ask HR. I don't believe that they'll be willing to give me an honest answer as their job is basically revenue protection and they will support the offer of the minimum that will stop me complaining Grin

Does the company have any stats on gender pay gap? Done 'fair pay review' process?

Glassdoor is a very useful website.

There's also payscale.com, and depending on your industry, some recruitment agencies have salary checkers, and you might find there are industry-specific sites with unions.

Being on the wrong pay grade may not be a big financial issue - ours have a lot of overlap (several thousands) between the top of one grade and the bottom of the next.

Thanks. Good idea to look at the gender pay gap data. That's a good starting point. And glass door! Should have thought of that one! Thanks everyone.

Company intranet/staff hand book?

Recruitment adverts? If you know what scale you should be on, see if your company is advertising a job on that scale and have a look at salary that way.

But really, for a large multinational they should have something easily available to you. Just ask for it - it’s not worth them lying to you about it, don’t ask for pay scale for specific grades just ask for the pay scale document.

@DrWhoNowww that's a good point actually. Thanks. You'd think there would be something on the intranet. I'll look. Thank you.
