I am unwell not covid according to LFT. I have had a temperature of 39.6 since Monday and just can’t seem to break it. I am so so cold and shivering, hands and feet are like ice to touch rest of me is very hot to touch, please wise mumnetters how do I break this fever. I am rotating Nurophen and Paracetamol which seem to not really be making a difference unfortunately. I have no appetite but am trying to drink as much water/sparkling water as possible because I feel rather sick as well. I have slept pretty much constantly since Sunday night so am getting plenty of rest.

Can you bear to stop the painkillers (or at least reduce them) and try to let the fever do it's thing OP. A high temperature can make you feel awful but it's not dangerous in itself – it's your body's natural way of trying to make itself inhospitable to the virus. Unless you have stuff you really have to do I would stop taking anything and go to bed and ride it out, and stay well hydrated.
Although, unless you're sure it's viral, once you get to 5 days with unexplained fever you should speak to your GP in case it's a bacterial infection. Do you have other symptoms?

Fever, tight chest and cough. No cold or snotty nose etc

Shivering and feeling cold (rigors) can be indicative of a bacterial infection. Perhaps get a GP appt in case you have a chest infection?

A fever in itself isn’t bad, it’s nature’s way of trying to fight the infection

Please DO NOT sponge yourself down with cool water as I’m sure will be suggested on this thread, it can make your body even hotter

I agree to let the fever do what it needs to do. If you continue to feel well you will probably need to seek medical advice.
