Sainsburys delivery help. Frozen items melted?

Hello,

I have just had a sainsburys delivery arrive this morning. As I unloaded the meat felt ‘warm’ and the ice creams and other bits were melted when I went to place them in the freezer. I called sainsburys who ensured me all meat is safe to eat and would have been stored correctly in the van. I then queried why all the frozen stuff was melted if this is the case so they refunded me for the frozen items.

Do I take there word for this as my child is very young - I am worried the meat might not have been kept at a safe temperature and left in the van all morning. Not sure what time they load it.

just make sure it is well cooked. If it's not in the freezer you could cook it into the recipe you were going to make, then freeze that. You are right to be concerned but it also depends on what meat it is

I'd insist upon a refund for the chilled products as well. They've already admitted there's a problem by refunding the frozen.

I'd cook the meat to be honest

Was any of the meat actually still frozen, or had it completely defrosted?

If partially frozen I would cook it and freeze that if you don't need to eat it now.

I would bin the rest.

I would also be wary of the chilled stuff - any meat/fish there that seems warm I would bin.

My DH works home shopping, not for Sainburys but I imagine they are very similar.
The vans have separate areas on them for chilled, ambient and frozen. The vans get checked for temps daily and then again before the drivers take them out. They will also be able to see if there is an issue mid round and should report it and swap vehicles as there should always be a spare, so even if the items were sat on a van it shouldn't cause an issue
