What food do you crave when you come back from holiday?

My parents are back from a two week holiday on Friday. It's a long flight and early landing. I've got the keys to their house, so was thinking of cooking something to leave in their fridge for them to microwave so that they don't need to bother cooking themselves when they get back.

I'm currently thinking either a Sunday roast or a corned beef pie. What food would you like to find in the fridge when you got home from a holiday abroad?

A curry...

Roast dinner or fish and chips - yum!

Beans on toast! Two weeks of restaurants, ice creams, big lunches etc. Nothing better than a simple beans on toast in your pyjamas on your first night back. That and a cup of English tea with English milk!
You will know your parents best though. Mine would want a cheese sandwich or something simple too. Perhaps the corned beef pie if you know they like that. Easy to warm up but also can be left a day if the don't fancy it. A roast is a bit full on to me.

Shepherd's pie with the potato topping lovely and crisp, tender-stem broccoli, plus apple crumble and custard...🌹

I live abroad so first thing I usually have is a roast, then collapse as its way to heavy, but beef or a fillet steak, I could murder one right now with home made chips!

A cup of decent tea

otherwise if your pre making, best make a one pot type thing. That way it will re heat easier and they can wait a day if they are out of time sync and just want toast and to sleep.

I would love a Lasagne ( not very English but hey)

Depends where I've been. Last few holidays have been to cornwall so when I get back to London I'm desperate for something spicy and fresh tasting like Pho after all the chips and ice cream.

Shepherds/cottage pie with veg in it so they can just stick it in the oven and serve.

That is really kind of you. It depends a bit what food they have had away. Its definitely nice to have fresh milk in and things to make tea or coffee if they drink that and maybe a fruit juice. Meal wise it depends what they have eaten before they left, if they say had an English breakfast before they left it may depend on how big eaters they are. I always love a Sunday roast though but just something like a fresh loaf of bread, butter, some fruit, something to make a sandwich with would be perfect. Its nice to not have to rush out to shops first thing. Its very kind of you. I am sure anything will be appreciated, all sounds lovely.

Cup of tea, fresh milk , fresh bread and a cheese, ham or bacon sandwich. Or a tin of soup. Something quite plain if been somewhere with lots of good food or lots of hotel food.

If it’s been a raucous holiday then a veg and chickpea traybake with a fresh coleslaw.

I wouldn’t want a roast…maybe shepherd pie.

Weetabix with mashed banana and Yorkshire Gold tea.
