For those of you who have Botox injections…

Can you tell me more?
How often?
Where on?
Do you recommend it?
Any bad experiences?
Can people tel you’ve had it?

I’m 39 and have two cracks between my eyebrows. It makes me look permanently knackered.
So I’m considering trying Botox.
I just worry I’ll end up looking like a wax work. Or is it just people who go over the top that do?

Yes but don’t be tempted to get it just between the brows- what can happen is you end up looking like a Disney witch. But the practitioner will know all this and advise the best way for the look you want to achieve.
You will get a shiny forehead, however use a matt face powder on the area

Amei · 05/04/2022 20:40

You won't look like a waxwork at all! Unless you end up getting a ridiculous amount.

I get 3 areas (forehead, those two lines in between your brows, and the lines by your eyes) done once a year, it costs around £150 (I'm in Liverpool), it takes about 10 minutes and you will have to go back two weeks later for a top up, which is included in the price.

Best thing ever. You look so much fresher, make up goes on smoother, I have no doubt that you will love it. It takes 10 days (ish) to start to take effect but it's so so worth it. I don't have any other work done but I love having my Botox done xx

Hatinafield · 05/04/2022 20:46

I get the horizontal lines on my forehead done twice a year. My forehead isn’t shiny and I can still move my face; it just smooths things out a bit :)

I have botox in my forehead, frown line, crows feet and under my eyes, I have the 'natural' amount so i can still move my forehead a tiny bit, it does feel frozen and feels very strange but you get used to it and depends how insecure you are about your lines, I was very insecure so I'm happy with my results, none of mine hurt except under my eyes that was very painful and I was left with one black eye 😵‍💫 I was worried about looking like a spoon and I don't and my forehead isn't shiny but it might depend, it will look different on different people I suppose and will work differently on different people, I have a top up every 3 months, what I will say is if you have it done and you don't like it, it doesn't last forever it will wear off, I know you'll have to be unhappy with how you look for a few months but it doesn't last forever xx

ParkheadParadise · 05/04/2022 20:48

Every 6 months
Between my brows and forehead.
Yes, I totally recommend it but make sure the person giving it is qualified and read all reviews. Someone who is recommended is also a good sign.
The girl I go to has a waiting list.
No one has ever asked if I've had Botox.
It costs £300

ZealAndArdour · 05/04/2022 20:53

I’m 35, I also had the two lines between my eyebrows. I just had a tiny bit there to begin with to see how it worked, I went back for my review appt two weeks later and we did a bit more in middle of brows and then some in the bits that pull your brows down, to lift the brows, and then a tiny bit in my crows feet area to smooth those out. Also had the first dose of Profhilo at the first appt and another treatment four weeks later. Botox and Profhilo has given me a really pleasing result and I’m generally much happier with my appearance since.

That was my first time and I’ve been happy with the results, look a lot less heavy around my eye area, and generally more awake and smooth. The shiny forehead comments are correct but I don’t mind it. I use topical tretinoin for melasma and anti-ageing so I’m always lathered in moisturiser and SPF50 and therefore shiny anyway!

Costs were negligible for me as one of my wonderful colleagues is an advance nurse practitioner and an aesthetics expert so was able to get mates rates. I see her all the time at work so I’ll let her tell me when she thinks I’m ready to go again!

SnoozeAllDay · 05/04/2022 21:41

Thank you all that’s helpful to know.

I think I’ll arrange a consultation. There’s a lady who is also a nurse and she seems from the outside to be really good and trustworthy so I’ll check her out!

I have botox for my lines between my eyebrows. I've also had a tiny bit of filler and they smooth right out. I'm with an excellent person now and its £120 a session and I only have the expensive stuff.

I've had mixed but ok results with others that have been cheaper.

I've had 2 quite bad results where one of my eyelids dropped a little.

You need to go to someone who is in demand, experienced, preferably a little older and has a salon.

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/04/2022 23:09

If your friend slept on her face not her back would this affect the um efficacy of any botox to her no 111s? Asking for a friend, y'see.

MarmiteCoriander · 05/04/2022 23:21

I would only recommend someone with a registered profession- Dr, Nurse, Dentist etc with aesthetics certificates and medical knowledge of facial anatomy. I would also check what emergency equipment they have have where they practice. Adrenaline in case of allergic reaction? A working phone to call 999? I've seen some dubious home garden set ups with no phone and no emergency equipment in 'beauty' salons and home settings!

You can buy a local anesthetic cream online or from larger pharmacies called emla. You only need a small amount- but it needs to be left on the skin at least 30mins to numb it- ideally 1hr. Its brilliant and used for cannulating children, for those with needle phobias and apparently for tattoos and piercings.

MrsPsmalls · 06/04/2022 00:19

I've had it a few times and its been okay but not great. Lines between eyebrows that you get when you frown. My expressions really changed. So I could raise eyebrows fine but couldn't really frown at all. I felt this looked odd. Especially as I need to look sympathetic at work when people tell me terrible things but I felt I just looked unconcerned and disinterested. I won't be having it done again.

HollowTalk · 06/04/2022 00:22

Does anyone have before and after photos?

MummaL32 · 06/04/2022 00:31

I've had it for 5 years for migraines to begin with then started to see how much better skin was so I can truthfully say it's for medical and physical reasons,

I love it!

£230 for 3 areas just outside of London.

Make sure where ever you go they've been doing it for a while

CrumpetStrumpet · 06/04/2022 06:22

I just got it for the first time a month ago. I went for 3 areas and I'm 43.

I am happy with it. It's definitely smoothed out my forehead and crows feet. However I do think it's made the lines under my eyes more noticeable when I smile. I'm now wanting my tear troughs filled. That's the trouble with aesthetics. You can always find something else that needs doing.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 06/04/2022 07:47

Hmm. I have an issue with the elevens on my forehead. I tried two practionners (both qualified dentist and doctor respectively). In each case, they said they could only offer botox and NOT fillers, as apparently there are some serious risks with using fillers on the forehead due to the thinness of the skin and proximity to veins near the brain!

The problem with "only botox" though, is that it will stop the lines from getting worse but will not alleviate much what is already there.

And at £220 a go I've decided I can't afford it (as I really wanted fillers instead).

NoWigNoWit · 06/04/2022 08:05

I’m 38 and I have Botox on my forehead, crows feet and frown lines every 5 months or so.

There’s a few different brands you can choose from, I use azzalure (not sure I’ve spelt that correctly!!)

The price varies for me and she sometimes has offers on, but on average I pay £200 for three areas.

I’ve also had nasolabial fillers and collagen injections Blush

I hated myself so much for so long so I took the plunge and got it sorted. I know some people don’t agree with it but I can honestly say I feel so much better and more confident about myself. I had this done late Jan…

Hope this helps op! x

I'm 27 and have been having it for a couple of years. I go every 4-6 months. Would highly recommend it. Virtually pain free. I don't look like a wax work. My eyebrows haven't been lifted to the high heavens.

My theory is start youngish and prevent the lines from being there altogether - but I know not everyone will agree.

I have a deep line between my eyebrows and after a couple of sessions it's practically gone.
I still have all the movement in my face too.

Totally recommend - but research your practitioner. Don't go to a salon, go to somebody medically trained. You pay more, but when it comes to having anything in your face you need to choose wisely.

NeedleNoodle3 · 06/04/2022 10:17

Twice a year
Crows feet, elevens and forehead
I stared at 50, wish I’d started a bit earlier. I’m very happy with my results and not told anyone IRL.

BotoxAGoGo · 06/04/2022 12:23

Name changed to post before and after. I have Botox in my elevens, my brows lifted, crows feet and I’ve also had Profhilo several times. Obviously I’m frowning in the first photo to show the crease in my forehead. But this is how I kept seeing myself on candid photos taken by my DP and really wasn’t pleased with how I looked. I think my face just looks more fresh and calm.
