How much was your dcs (government) child trust fund worth

I'd totally forgotten all about it 🙈
Army family so we've moved loads and I can't even remember who it was invested with!
Dd has just turned 18 and we've sent of the form to track the account down but have no idea what it's worth. I remember there was different amounts depending on when the child was born.
I've never paid into it as I had my own savings account started for her so can anyone let me know what she can expect to get?

Surprised at the different amounts of those that didn’t add to it. Is it the level of risk required? Ours was in sticks but only £660

Some people will have started with a larger amount though, if they got the low income payment.

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:03

Oh I see. We just got £250 I think which I was pleased to get as older DD in2000 got nothing!

kimlo · 05/04/2022 18:03

£1600. I didn't add to it.

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:04

How much did you start with @kimlo?

TracyMosby · 05/04/2022 18:06

How do you find out how much is in?

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:10

Phone them. Or go online @onefamily.
I get annual statements on paper too.

kimlo · 05/04/2022 18:11

@Benjispruce4 I can't rmemeber now, I want to say £500? I'm sure it was 2 vouchers of £250.

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:13

@kimlo that explain. We just had £250.Really wish I’d added to it now

SnowdropsInSpring · 05/04/2022 18:14

@CornishGem1975

I never paid into it. We got the standard £250. Last year it was worth £150 Hmm Glad I didn't bother!
Similar here.
CornishGem1975 · 05/04/2022 18:15

I feel less alone @SnowdropsInSpring

bumblingbovine49 · 05/04/2022 18:15

We had 250 and paid in £10 a month since DS was a baby. He is 17 now and it is worth about 6.5k, so we put in around 2k and it has made around 4.5k in that time.

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:18

That’s great @bumblingbovine49

Beaconoflight · 05/04/2022 18:22

We got £250 in 2004 and we put £20 a month in it since then plus another one, think she is getting about 7k, very useful for uni.

ponkydonkey · 05/04/2022 18:24

Currently £900 I did add a few bits here and there but not much

He has a separate savings account he doesn't know about with 11k in it

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:26
Blush
Fandangoes · 05/04/2022 18:26

wow I can't believe the variety in payouts! We paid in £10 per month since it opened like a PP but DD only got just under £2k last month when she turned 18

BonnesVacances · 05/04/2022 18:29

I paid nothing into DS's. Stuck it in a high risk investment fund and it was worth about £1,500. Due to mature in November so its arse has probably fallen out now, but it was free money anyway.

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:30

I feel dreadful now that we didn’t look into adding more.

Greatoutdoors · 05/04/2022 18:30

Oh crikey I’d forgotten about ours. DS is 19 and wants to learn to drive. Sounds like it could potentially cover a few lessons (no idea how much they cost?!)

Benjispruce4 · 05/04/2022 18:31

About £30ph !

worriedatthistime · 05/04/2022 18:36

About £450 as we never added to it and we werent on benefits so got the lesser amount

Babyroobs · 05/04/2022 18:37

It will depend on lots of factors. Whether parents added to it, whether it was a cash one or invested in stocks and shares, and also your child's age and whether they got both payments. Only one of my kids got both payments, dd only got one payment as they had stopped the second payment by the time she turned 7. It was all a bit unfair really as it lasted only for a few years so in some families one kid might have it and not another.

Turmerictolly · 05/04/2022 18:37

Paid the child benefit in from year 2 and now worth £25k! It was put in a medium risk stocks and shares fund. I'm about to move it to a lower risk fund as it will be needed for university in a couple of years with hopefully some left over for a car or part of a property deposit.

Babyroobs · 05/04/2022 18:37

My dd has about 4k in hers now but we have added to it each month as the interest rate isn't too bad.
