partners ex deliberately dragging heels finding a new property

My partner and his ex jointly own a home. They seperated 6 years ago and divorced over 3. He paid all the mortgage for first 3 years and half each for last 3. Both adult children have left home and he has said he wants to sell the property. Ex has agreed to sell and it has sold quickly but now she is saying she will delay as long as possible so that the sale falls through, she will drag her heels in finding a new property and there will be a long chain etc etc - is there anything he can do or is there a reasonable timescale he should give her to buy somewhere else?

I don't know, hope there is. Just giving a bump.

Can he force a sale through the Courts, his solicitor will know. Can he speak to his mortgage broker, does he still pay half the mortgage, what happens if he stops paying it.

they have a joint solicitor for the house sale so he is going to call them. he is still paying half the mortgage but guess if he stops it could go to repossession and they will both lose money

I think he should threaten to stop paying, he could make life awkward for her. Sounds like she’s had it good if he paid the whole thing for three years with no dc at home.

This must happen a lot and I don't know what the answer is. A friend is in the same situation currently. Adult child now lives with him, house is "on the market", but she's difficult over viewings.

When we were buying we started avoiding places where an ex was selling up because it was so apparent at the first viewing that they'd be obstructive/had no intention of actually selling.
